I've always been a fan of James Irvin. I personally am not giving him much of a chance, but I'd love to see him pull it out.
I'd prefer Anderson to win just like someone said before, due to the possible matchups. Test the waters, if he likes 205?...Wow...

Also, fighting Silva in his first LHW bout is not the most attractive proposition. Being the main event is obviously a great thing but at the same time, winning against a MW will not give you a title shot and losing against Silva will only put you down even further away from a title shot. I think Irvin took this fight because he's been in the UFC for a long time and he knows he won't get a high profile fight like this being the gate keeper of the LHW. I guess we'll never know the real reasons why some people turned the fight down but there are plenty of reasons why someone would. | I won't agree an say James wins. But i will say to many people are counting him out. I think Anderson is the favorite but a walk in the park this won't be.
At first i was like ah fuck Anderson will kill him. But then thinking about it, James could win this fight.
Anderson is moving up a weight class to fight a guy who has Chuck Liddell kind of power, who like to come at you. Rampage has said James is one of the hardest hitters.
James knows he has nothing to lose, this fight won't get him kicked out of the UFC because he is doing Dana a favor, an well losing to Anderson is nothing to be ashamed of. But James has everything to gain, a win over Anderson would propel imo James into the spot light specially if it is a highlight finish.
Anderson has everything to lose an nothing to gain. I just hope he isn't taking James lightly an will go in an try finishing this fight as fast as he can. I guess if James hits him, we will find out how strong his chin really is.

This is a much more dangerous fight for Anderson Silva then people think! Irvin has serious ko power and he won't be scared to trade with Silva. I'm going to say Irvin by ko, if silva were to win it would be by submission.

This fight is going to be less competitive than I thought. | If you think that, you don't know much about James "The Sandman" Irvin

I like Irvin and think he is a good fighter, I think he will give Silva a better fight than Franklin. IMO Irvin is faster and more versatile than Franklin. Irvin is a scrapper and will leave it all out there. This is a good match. Plus he owns one of the sweetest KOs in the fight with Terry Martin. Flying Knee to the Head to start the round. Priceless

That was friggin sweet but Silva will manage to stick his knee up Irvin's friggin ass. Silva is at the top of his game in all aspects. Irvin just isnt the same class of fighter.

I dont think its smart for Irvin to be looking to clinch with Anderson
Anderson via first round ko (knees)

who has the reach advantage? Anderson? anyways its probably not gunna be that big of a factor but it could definitely be a factor in Irvin getting in range to land his bombs.
im a huge fan of Anderson, but a big part of me wants Irvin to win this fight! in fact he could be the guy to single handidly ruin all of Dana White's plans for 185 and 205, and that my friends is VERY intruiging! imagine a LHW throwing a big wrnech into a weight class thats not even his own...thats kinda cool. WAR IRVIN, he's definitely a stand out guy. this is a win/win situation for him definitely.
im gunna guess some of the guys who possibly turned the fight down...Vera, Wandy, Hamill, Thiago Silva, Soko, and Reljic...and im guessing these guys because it seems like they'd be good logical choices for the fight, but may have turned it down cuz they didnt want to have to prepare for a guy like Anderson in only 4 weeks. not necessarily pussing out...but who knows.
Irvin gets the kudos for sure
