It looks like our rankings page hasn't been updated in around half a year.

I'm not sure what happened with those - I think that Howie used to "own" the updating of those, or at least started it off - but it looks like they have fallen into disrepair.

If there's interest in establishing our "official" site rankings again, via shared consensus, then I'd like to volunteer to do that and to keep it current, probably seeking to update the rankings at every month-end.

Thoughts/reactions/objections?

It definitely needs to be updated. I'm down for anything, as long as we have an up to date rankings list we can all (almost) agree on. :D

Honestly they need to be updated about once every 1-2 months.

I just threw it out there. I'm not suggesting that I - or any one person - singlehandedly does the rankings.

I like the idea of arriving at MMANews' consensus ratings by combined participation on the forums in polls, the results of which would be used to create the rankings.

There's hardly any "right" or "wrong" answer anyway, unless you have something just way out of whack, so the consensus rankings we'd come up with - which IMO would be more fun and give everyone a chance to contribute - would, I'm sure, be very reasonable.

Anyway, if the idea is liked, I'm volunteering to coordinate it.

One way to do this would be to set up a point based ranking system where 1st = 10 points and 10th = 1 point. Everyone picks their top ten and we add up the points based on the ranking system top to determine an overall top 10 for each division.

I deffinatly agree the ranking need to be updated and if your down to organize it then props to you man. How would it be done though? A thread where everyone throws out names and a certain amount of people pick? A huge poll? Or even a forum-wide tally, someone mentioned a "points system" and it seems like a good idea that could work.

I'd likely do it by polls and then either update the rankings page - if e.g. Clint will let me - or if he won't, I'd submit the results to Clint or someone to update that page.

Thanks for the kind words, I think this is something that needs to happen, but I'd like to see what Clint, Howie, Bullock etc have to say about the idea. If they're down with it I'm down.

I think its a must that this site have its own rankings. You will have my input and support.
