This would be absolutely no brainer if you are Dana White. You got two of the most popular fighters in UFC history and they would be fighting for the belt. If Chuck wins, they can use it as an excuse and make Rampage-Chuck III. Forrest's next fight might be the only chance UFC will ever get to make this fight because there is a good chance Forrest may lose in his first title defense and this title fight may never materialize. UFC will make this happen imo.

In any case, the LHW title picture is going to get alot more complicated now that Anderson Silva is in the mix. | I'm not sure, I think it may be Machida or a rematch with Quinton. I'm not saying I am opposed to Chuck getting the shot, unlike a lot of people here, but I think the timing is off for that to happen. I like to watch Chuck fight, but I am happy to watch him fight whether it is a title fight or not.

I think Machida deserves the shot, hands down. However, I don't think he will get it...I don't even think he'll get the next shot either. I believe Chuck probably will get the next fight and I think Jackson gets Wandy next. Then, the winner of Chuck-Griffin gets the winner of Jackson-Wandy. If it's Chuck it's great, because he either rematches Jackson or we get to see Wand-Iceman for the title. If it's Griffin we get to see HIM rematch with Jackson or he goes for history by trying to beat Shogun, Rampage, Iceman, Axe-murderer 1-2-3-4.
Of course, what happens to Machida while all this is going on? Let him take Shogun and Jardine...if he beats both of them, I'm not sure how anyone could still argue he needs any more fights to earn his title shot. Personally I feel he already deserves the next shot, but since he's probably not going to get it I want him to at least fight top 10 guys to solidify his position.

it'll be Chuck-Forrest for sure if Liddell can go after Evans. Fights like that hurt the sports credibility though. Dana would make the fight based purely on money when chuck would be 2-2 in his last 4 four fights, not exactly the resume of a #1 challenger.

IMO, for Chuck to get another shot, he should have to beat Rashad and then if Wanderlei beats T. Silva, have their rematch with the winner getting a shot at whoever the champ is. | What about Machida? Have him wait til next May for a title shot?
What about Anderson Silva? 4 wins for him to get a title shot?
What about Shogun? I think he's made enough of an impact in Pride as the #1 LHW in the world to come back and be one or two fights from getting a title shot.

Look at it like you do Jon Fitch, he won 7-0 an finally getting his title shot.
Lyoto is i believe 4-0 in the UFC, in a deeper weight class, so he has 3 more fights to go.

I think Chuck's another fight or two away if he beats Rashad. If the UFC wants to do big numbers though, that fight makes a lot of sense.

If Chuck beats Rashad at UFC 88, thats a big If!!!
Rashad could squeak out a close decision, if so who is the number 1 contender? Rashad, Machida, Jackson, Wandy?
