You guys have probably seen Affliction ads on Spike. I know Dana doesn't control what Spike does....but Spike's getting paid for the commercials. Dana probably hates it.
Your thoughts..... | I saw the the Affliction commercials on Spike as well and was thinking "wtf?". Of course I don't think Dana is supporting Affliction, but it was weird to see that Spike has no ENFORCED loyalty to only the UFC. It made me wonder how much Affliction shelled out to buy the spot. I wonder who engineered the Babalu Unleashed as well. I was glad to see the advert though.

I know the feeling. I was just waking up, rubbing my eyes and saw "8/10."

Your thoughts..... | I definitely don't think so. The rotation for the programming for these taped shows probably is scheduled months in advance. Probably just an oversight by Dana that he didn't squash it out since the Affliction card has been announced.
As far as seeing Affliction commercials on Spike, commercial air time is out there for anyone to buy who wants it. If you pony up the money, you can get the time. Doesn't matter the cable network or the business. Just needs to to pass FCC standards and not be obscene or profane.

Spike is never going to bitch about having UFC programming, because they do decent ratings with it, but essentially being forced into putting on a 3 hour event that they know is in direct competition with not only a PPV but free fights on FSN. They probably aren't giddy. I'm sure getting advertising at the last minute has been a nightmare.
And I don't know if they still do it or not, but I they used to plan the Unleasheds months in advance. And you could go on the website to get the details of Who they were showing.
Its also a good pssibility that UFC doesn't even give a crap about reairring an Affliction fighter's UFC fights. They own the rights to it. Why pay $40 to see a guy fight on PPV when we just showed his best fights for free last week?

Is Dana really in charge of what Spike TV decides to air?

I like babalu, but he showed he couldnt hang in the UFC, he got to title fights, and got KTFO in both. He became a another clip in Chucks highlight reel, then he lost to lambert, shit happens, but if I was a LHW, I dont know if I want to be in the UFC either, that division is stacked, and deep. Anyone LHW better have a steel chin, and a great ground game, having one of those two wont win ya the belt, now, to fix the HW's.

dana can't be liking spike's decision to air affliction teasers during his ufc events.

Alot of you dont seem to realize that Spike doesnt even have control over all the advertising, DirecTV, Dish Network or your cable company also have a certain amount of advertising time on each channel.
Say if you live in Portland you might see a commercial for a motley crue concert while you are watching mtv one night... do you think the whole country see's the commercial for your local concert? no the promoter bought that time from whatever cable or sattelite company that covers that market so instead of the cable company using that time for a commercial to hawk the latest dvr or whatever they sell that time to the promoter instead.
same type of deal with the Affliction commercials on spike

It's just a rerun, the Babalu episode, as mentioned, first came out before the Liddell fight
