It was reported that you thought Quinton Jackson won the fight against Forrest, but the UFC would rather have a champion who Chuck Liddell could beat. Is that accurate?
What I said was that in my opinion I thought Quinton Jackson won the fight. In no way was I trying to go against the event, saying that they want Chuck Liddell as the champion. Chuck is a more popular fighter, he sells more, he is an ex-champion, so it is possible that it is his turn at a title shot. A lot of people misinterpreted what I said, saying that what I had said was that the UFC wanted Liddell as the champ. Right now could be his turn at a shot for the belt.

Thats what I thought.

I think that Machida is going to get Wandy next. I think Wandy is the one person in the division who can beat Machida rather easily. Tito did his best in the clintch and thats where Wandy would beat Machida. I honestly think that Machida would beat Chuck. The only problem is that it might be a very boring fight.

I know alot of people dont like the way Machida fights but I love it. He is very different and fun to watch. It tells you something when all these fighters dont want to fight Machida.

Who said that? As a fan of Machida, I agree when he says he needs to keep improving to get the title and hold on to it.
He's like a Jon Fitch. He's very good and talented, but lacking in overall champion level skills and marketability. I like to see a champ who is so much better than the competition that he can finish them, not go to a decision almost every fight.

Great interview. More than anything else, I like Machida because he stays true to the "martial arts" way of thinking and approaching a fight.

Both of which should be really good fights that I want to see

I think if Lyoto and Wandy both win.. Machida will get the shot after the winner of Rashad/Liddell.

If Wandy wins and Lyoto losses (don't cry Smoogy), then I have a feeling we will see Wandy vs. Rampage III to decide a #1 contender.

If they both lose, Rampage will fight the champion after the winner of Rashad/Liddell.


Rampage and Machida are the only two guys that are 1 fight from a shot right now IMO. But, if Wandy wins, I bet they make Rampage and Wandy fight first.



In the meantime, Soko and Shogun should be fighting to decide the UFC LHW division pecking order.. and where the hell is Keith Jardine? Still in the hospital from the Wandy fight? lol He is M.I.A.

And still find it weird that Thiago and Wanderlei are going to fight.. both of them being former Chute Box and all...
