I never questioned Penn's BJJ. He's on another level than GSP and other fighters. However, I said GSP's gameplan will be to take BJ to the ground against the cage, where your grappling skills do deteriorate and that's no secret. It doesn't matter who you are... you're going to do better off your back on the mat than you are against the cage.

Also, GSP's gameplan in the first fight was to stand with BJ but that didn't work out so well so they switched gameplans mid-fight. Going into the fight, taking him down against the cage would be GSP's best bet and try to outwork him there.

I also don't see GSP taking him down... I see GSP getting a god shot and then Penn riding it out throwing strikes to GSP's mid section and eventually GSP letting go to try and stand back up. I haven't also seen Penn get taken off his base when he is Fresh, and I think he will be fresh enough for 25 minutes this time around.
That's what I"m thinking too on how he's going to keep stuffing GSP's shots but I also think that's going to be a part of GSP's gameplan... to try to make BJ expend energy by stuffing shots repeatedly. This is something I thought Sherk should've kept doing in his fight but didn't. GSP can't let BJ get too much into the boxing groove because BJ has some of the best hands in the game and an amazing jab.

I don't know man... it takes allot more energy to go for a takedown then to stuff a takedown.

I know it does but I think the jackson camp will feel that GSP expending that energy may be well worth it. They're going to believe that GSP can handle a more intense pace than BJ, so they're going to be banking on BJ probably getting tired first by stuffing the takedowns. I also have a feeling that we're going to see GSP picking BJ up and trying to slam him much like their first fight....which also means expending even more energy. Those are tougher to stuff.

I really think that these two are both going to be visibly tired by the end because of the pace much like Shogun/Forrest.

I don't agree.. to get someone up off their base for a slam off a double leg is much easier to stuff then an outside single leg trip... GSP rarely picks fighters up into a slam... he usually does a nice shot to a dump. I don't see Penn getting picked up off his base as easily as I do see him getting single legged and then tripped into his guard.

Most fighters don't go for slams... because it expends more energy and two (as you mentioned), it's hard to get them off their base. However, BJ's TDD is very unorthodox (unlike a wrestler's). He can give you one leg standing up or when you're going for a shot and you're still not going to take him down. However, I personally think because of this style, his base is not geared towards stuffing those slams. I'm trying to figure out a better way of wording this but I"m not having a good grasp of words this morning.

GSP doesn't usually go for slams because he's usually very successful in shooting in for a single or a double. Why go for a slam when you are successful at the less-energy requiring takedowns? However, the only time we saw GSP going for a slam was against BJ because he wasn't as successful just shooting in, which is why I think he will go for slams once again.
