Plus, it doesn't get reported to anyone, so only Fedor's team and Affliction know what he is really making per fight. Plus, I'm sure it is a much better tax situation for Fedor this way.

This was common sense. We didn't need investigative reporting to tell us that Fedor was paid in some other way. 99.9 % of athletes receive the bulk of their pay through signing and/or roster bonuses.
In all honesty, the fight purses are the real bonuses and the so called "bonuses" are the actual salary.

"Signing bonus" is just the term that they used, so he can get his money upfront. How else would anyone explain why he was paid so much money upfront? Based on your past postings, you seem be quite challenged when it comes to real world money matters.

It's just like any actor who gets a lower salary for a movie, but a bigger piece of the future take.

The UFC wasn't likely to allow him to fight his Sambo matches.

Sambo or no Sambo.

Representing Russia in Sambo championships and getting non-exclusive contracts so he can compete in MMA seems to be more important to him.
The UFC could have paid him more than anyone else and that ended up meaning nothing.
Fedor will always make enough money to live comfortably no matter who he fights for.
