Money up front is an awesome idea. Just ask Matt Lindland. He was supposed to make mad money per fight with Bodog. He fought once and they never did shit with him again.

This is just Fedor and his team looking out for Fedor. Smart. If he would have lost to Timmah or been injured, that was his "golden parachute".

Bottom line though is what we already knew. The Affliction event could not have broken even. The numbers seem sketchy at best. Give it time and enough promoters and we will get MMA to be just like boxing yet. Just wait...

The signing bonus is more then likely to protect Fedor from getting taxed out the ass here in the states and then getting taxed again in his home country.

Yeah makes sense and I was sure there was something else that contributed to Fedor getting paid just 300,000 when Sylvia got much more. I'm sure his signing bonus was a hell of a nice number in order to secure him.

The real question in my mind is, "How much of the money is actually going to Fedor, and how much exactly are his handlers getting?"

Another thing to keep in mind is that M-1 Global was featured prominently in the ring that night. Affliction could have offered M-1 free advertising in exchange for Fedor's services and let M-1 pick up the rest of the tab for paying Fedor. That could be part of it as well.

And could someone tell me what the hell is up with the 8/9/08 campaign on here. I don't get it. Is that just advertising for the GSP/Fitch fight or something?

I haven't been very active lately and would also know the purpose of 8/9/08

I know that's the date GSP and Fitch fight but I don't know if this pertains to that or not. Everyone's sporting these cryptic 8/9/08 sigs and I don't get it. What's going down on 8/9?

Yeah, that is the only thing I can think of. What else is there? Madden?

Madden is 8/12/08. I'm counting down on that one myself.

My only guess is that people are predicting that Fitch will take GSP's title.
