This blogger is a moron and doesn't understand the difference between the overall, and demographic ratings. It actually did something in the 1.8-2.0 overall range, and that demo rating of 1.0 (which will likely increase as it is tallied) is up from what CBS averages on Sat. nights.

Adam Morgan and 5Oz lose 500 Smoogy Points for being DUM DUMS and trying to interpret ratings data without having a fuckin clue what they're doing.

The UFC 84 replay probaly did almost as good. They could of advertised it better but you guys need to admit Kimbo Slice brings ratings.

Sure they did, but as the hardcore fans never seem to remember, there's like 10,000 of them.

10,000 fans worldwide don't sell anything.

Yeah that's a strange demo to advertise in. Course if they were doing saturation ads they come on randomly

How does everyone else feel about the CBS play-by-play guy?

I may be wrong, but he just doesn't seem to be even half as knowledgeable about MMA as Mauro, Quadros, Frank Shamrock, and maybe even Bill Goldberg.

I couldn't stop laughing every time he had to be corrected by Mauro and Frank.

I definitely don't dislike him, but is he really the right guy for that job?

He's brand new (to MMA announcing). He's one of the best football announcers there is, and considering the relatively little time he's had to get schooled in MMA, I think he does very well.

Well that's a bummer. I think even TNA wrestling consistently pulls a 1.0 rating.

I agree he is a pretty damn good football anouncer. I should know he seems to call alot of my team's games for some reason. He is not their number one play by play guy but he is pretty good and can definitely get excited when he commentates and doesn't really show a bias either. I guarantee once he gets his knowledge up most people will like him.

Kimbo Slice brought ratings, but didn't sustain ratings, i.e. he didn't create fans of the sport. No one needs to admit he brought ratings - because no one is disputing that. The fact is, short term ratings do not equal long term potency. What has been proven is that basing your organization and production on an internet street fighter with 3 MMA fights will not sustain any sort of success. They can't have the freak factor of Kimbo every event - it is a bad marketing plan, period. This latest event was great and it is what they should have done in the first place. Good MMA will sell itself, they don't need a fucking bearded gimmick. Putting on good and true, quality MMA events is the way to go. It may not mean immediate success, but as we've seen with the UFC, the growth will be gradual and continual and will eventually snowball. If the plan is to make Kimbo the face of MMA, the ship will capsize sooner than later - the lower ratings of this last event is nothing if not the result of that. I actually have a lot more faith in EliteXC after this last event and I think if they continue (and add some sort of marketing) they will rise as a force in the world of MMA.

That's absolutely incorrect in my opinion.

You're forgetting that 99.9999% of the audience are NOT big MMA fans. They don't give a shit about the technical aspect and would much rather see a bloody brawl.

Good MMA doesn't sell itself, it's one of the reasons it's not mainstream to begin with
