It seems to me that the sustained success of the UFC contradicts you. The first card of Elite's was a gimmick that failed. I'm not really sure how you can deny that. We saw a lot of hype and according to at least half the fans on this board, a lot of controversy. What was the return? Not much in terms of the viewers of that card - meaning, it didn't sell MMA and it failed to repeat. This card may not have had the same type of ratings, but I am willing to bet that it will have created much more in terms of return viewers and individuals actually interested in the sport. The production was better, it was more concise, and overall it was a superior product. The audience that merely wants a bloody brawl is not an audience that will come back - unless the goal is to try to give that to them every time, consequently dumbing down the sport, and thus reducing it to shit for the individuals that actually care about it and invest in its success.

I forgot it was even on. I guess that would explain some bad ratings if others had the same brain fart.
