I think since Rampage is now in limbo, when Chuck beat Rashad he should have his rematch with Wand at the New Year event on Dec 27 and the winner of that would become #1 contender waiting to see who wins out of Lyoto/Thiago vs Forrest. That would be great!

Wouldn't surprise me if Chuck goes through Rashad and then meets Forrest in December for the title. The UFC will want Chuck to win and then face Machida. A Machida win over Chuck gives him way more credibility in the eyes of the casual fans.

You could certainly argue that Chuck deserves a title shot. Andrei Arlovski got an immediate shot at the title after losing it. Matt Hughes had 1 fight and then got another title shot (albeit an "interim" title). Rich Franklin had 2 fights then a re-match with Silva.
Precedent is on Chuck's side here.

Chuck held the strap for 2 years, If he beats Rashad by KO give him Forrest and let him get it back. He is 38 and I would like to see him hold the belt again before he is gone for good. Machida is good, but this is the business and its entertainment. Machida is his own worst enemy in sense, he wins fights but the entertainment value just isnt there.

The Chuck hate is hard to understand. He may not be the next in line, but he is no slouch, that's for sure. Besides the loss to Jardine, which was a close fight, I can't understand the fall from grace that is being attributed to him. I, obviously, am a fan of his fights - they almost always are pretty damn entertaining. Beating Wandy surely puts him a few steps towards his former standing, IMO. I don't really care about title shots, other than I like to see 5 rounds if the fight isn't ended in some fashion prior. I know that Chuck has potential future fights with Machida, Shogun, Forrest, and Wandy again, and they should be great fights whether it is for the title or not.

chuck will get the next title shot if he beats rashad. let's see, machida's best recent wins: a finish over sokoudjou, a decision over ortiz. liddell: decision over wanderlei. let's assume he beats rashad. as much as alot of people gripe about machida getting *shafted*, it's not such a clear-cut fact that machida should get a shot over liddell. you have to remember that chuck has been around for a long time, was the former ufc lhw champion (and a dominant one at that), and machida isn't that marketable.
then it's chuck vs forrest, with forrest as the champion. tuf comes full circle.
and who said chuck would "never become champion again?" no one is unbeatable, quinton lost and i pity those who couldn't conceive of that.
