| I am probably one of the biggest Chuck Liddell fan on this site but Charlie seems to forget who Machida has beat in his 13-0 record. not a shabby list IMO.

With all due respect to Chuck, he had the worst performance of his career and needed a life coach after Rampage KO'd him. He was not "ready to fight the next day". He may be respectful toward the Rampage situation but he's lying to himself.
In retrospect, I can see why losing the most coveted title in MMA's premiere wight class can be draining. Wanderlei needed 10 months off after his loss of the Pride title to Hendo. Randy retired and came back to HW after Chuck Beat him twice. Chuck needed a life coach. Rampage had a breakdown.
Fighting in that division now is so emotionally taxing, it's almost absurd how much so.

I think what we're seeing here is a sense of urgency. Chuck realizes he's not getting any younger and I'm sure it's working on his brain that he's never going to be any younger than he is right now. He's 38 years old.
In my eyes he certainly doesn't deserve a shot. not right now.
