I could honestly see paying half to some of the fighters. Sylvia 800,00, Rothwell 250,000, those were ridiculous, but asking a fighter of Barnett's quality to take a significant cut like that; Good Luck.

People don't care enough about MOST of these fighters to justify paying them a quarter million dollars

lol how is it bait and switch when you say UP FRONT that it's going to happen? he announced it at a friggin press conference well before the first show.
That's pretty much the opposite of bait and switch
Anyway, even though it was publically stated they were overpaying the fighters to make an initial splash, some are too thickheaded to accept it. Funny they weren't too thick to sign the last one, and I'm betting they were asked to at least verbally commit to a second fight in which they'd make less and help affliction make up the difference (pure conjecture)
I don't think barnett is worth anywhere near what he made last time, and mostly what it seems to have done is give him a falsely inflated sense of value.
I wish these guys would think a little more about thist stuff. If they'd just accept the fights ( i mean come on, we ALL knew the deal right? How ould they not know? common sense ) and live on they could move to another org, but demanding to get the same pay when they knew up front it was inflated is just selfish bullshit.

If its in a contract.... then.... yeah they'll be fighting anyway.... Still that first show they were all paid handsomely... In the 2nd show if thye dont make as much as the first show, they're still making a good living just based off the first show.

If affliction is cutting fighters pay to have them fight easy opponents this org is gonna go down really quick. All's they'll be known for is they put a card together that had Fedor vs Tim Sylvia. I dont think this card will come together.
I think as the weeks progress were gonna find out that opponent who fight fedor wont take a pay cut so he's pretty much out of opponents; AA and Barnett. Fedor would probably fight his mom if the money was right.
I have a dumb gut feeling that UFC will try to get in on this mix and scoop up Fedor. Right now seems like a better time than ever. They are the only ones who can pay him and they already saw the public reaction to Randy vs. Fedor.
I say make it happen. Next February for the Superbowl Saturday Show!

What a joke. If the deal really was that you can fight a can and make half as much, then that is pretty much retarded. It appears that instead of building something sustainable Affliction wanted to show up the UFC, IMO - signing fighters the UFC couldn't get, or disgruntled ex-champions, and presenting themselves as the organization that "truly" cares about the fighters. If the payout was a gimmick and the match-ups begin to be overly one-sided, that says to me that their priorities are not in the right place and being a viable organization is not the end goal. It is all conjecture at this point until we see the actual card that is set up.

What i do not understand is why they thought Tim was worth so much when he never main evented a UFC PPV.It was always a co-main event if i remember right. So if the UFC could not use him as a draw then what made him worth so Much to Affliction?

Josh Barnett shouldn't take a pay cut. He goes out and Knocks Rizzo the eff out and the reward would be to fight for less? That's silly and the opposite of how the UFC works. See this is something i've always liked about the UFC. Put on an entertaining fight, work to finish, and you'll be back, and you'll make more money.
I still have high hopes for the next Affliction event, however I still believe this is all a master plan to get the UFC to buy them out, and let Affliction clothing back into the UFC all at the same time.
I'm not sure I believe this story to be completely honest. There's more to this.
