On the flip side of that coin, with that same depleted division, why not just come back, pick 2 fights and then leave. It's ridiculous. He could have fought Nog in February and Werdum, Vera, or anyone else in June, July and been ready for the Fedor fight by October. It's just madness. | Yeah but if he lost before the Fedor fight then it really wouldnt mean shit. Couture isnt fighting because he wants to go out against Fedor.....its fucking pathetic.

The contract places a one-year restricted period, set to expire in October, on the 45-year-old associating himself with, or working with, a promoter of any non-UFC event.
That's the IFL. This just keeps getting more complicated. | Didnt the UFC buy the IFL???? X out rival organization right there :P The UFC should just host the event Randy vs Fedor for a one night only type of thing.... (They did it before with Royce vs Gracie) The only reason why this isnt smart is because it gives Fedor free exposure. If Randy somehow wins then it's a win/win for the UFC. If Randy loses badly, then it makes the UFC look bad. (Which is most likely) It will also make fans think and wonder "Why isnt he (Fedor) in the UFC?" "Isnt the UFC the best?"
THE UFC can buy M1 and close it down. Fedor and his management just want a flexibile contract. I dont see why that's so hard to do. I mean if the UFC wanted to copromote with any other division, the HW division makes the most sense....
It doesnt matter to the fans where else the fighter fights. If the fighter fights on UFC programming and inside a UFC Octagon, they are UFC fighters.

Hard to care much about this issue until new info comes out or his contract ends or whatever, it's easy article material for sites to regurgitate til then.

I doubt that they would let Couture just finish his contract that easy if he wanted to leave.
They would have benched him just like they did Arlovski
secondly, Nog would beat him if they fought and so would Werdum for that matter
Then a fight with Fedor would mean absolutely nothing

Then a fight with Fedor would mean absolutely nothing | If Randy wins his next 2 fights his contract won't end, it automatically renews if you're the champion. Therefore, he can only get out of his contract if he loses, and if he loses than the Fedor fight is no longer a big deal. That is why Randy has to get out of his contract.
