Default Ramma's Fighter of the Month Poll (July)

Definitely a packed month for MMA. Two UFC events, Affliction, DREAM, and EliteXC all in one month. Last month’s winner came down to a tie. First tie since I’ve been doing the poll. I still included a runner up.

It’s that time of the month. It is time for you guys to vote. Who was the best fighter in the month of July?

Things to remember:

1. You should vote on who you believe performed the best in the month.
2. You shouldn’t vote on who you believe is the best fighter. This is not a favorite fighter poll either.
3. Feel free to explain your choice (especially if you picked “Other”) or question the choice of others. Debate Away! But debate with some tact and intelligence.
4. For those who have trouble picking a fighter: measure the quality of the opponent he/she beat, how often was he/she dominant, did he/she finish the fight, did he/she beat the other fighter at his/her own game, etc.
5. Do you think a fighter who lost or an unlisted fighter had the best performance? Select the other option.

June Results (88 Votes)
Last Month’s Winner: Urijah Faber & Amir Sallodah (20 Votes: 22.73% of the Votes) - Tied
Last Month’s Runner-Up: Josh Thomson (18 Votes: 20.45% of the Votes)

I definetly vote Fedor. The eyes of the MMA world were upon him and he trounced his opponent.

Yeah I voted Fedor because he made a huge impact in all kinds of ways with his easy defeat of Sylvia.

Hansen did well to come back from his loss over Alvarez and stop Aoki, and Alvarez also was impressive in his slugfest against Kawajiri. AA and Barnett both looked good etc, lots of good performances in the last month, but as I said Fedors win had the biggest impact.

Yeah I picked Fedor cuz of who he beat and HOW he beat him. Hansen winning the tourney is a liitle soured for me cuz he was an alternate due to already losing, and Aoki looked tired. But it was still awesome. Shields' sub was fuckin fantastic (one arm guillotine from mount). But Fedor delivered.

I voted Forrest. Everyone said he was a fluke and he now has wins over the 2 number 1 LHW's in the world back to back.

I don't really like it but I had to vote Griffen. I kind of wanted to vote for Joachim Hansen but just couldn't. He wasn't as big of a dog as Forrest was IMO and Aoki wasn't as highly ranked in the lw division as Rampage was in the lhw division, at least in my mind. It's too bad Alvarez couldn't continue. If he had been able to and then beat Aoki, we'd have a clear winner.

Forrest Griffin.

Forrest beat the consensus #1 LHW fighter in the world in a fight most gave him very little chance to win.

#1 LHW in the world, champion of the most exciting division in the biggest MMA org in the world, who was coming off back to back victories over Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson.

Yes, he stood with Rampage and outfought him, in a fight he was given very long odds to win.

All the other fighters listed, of course, had good months.

#2 would certainly have been Fedor for re-establishing himself without any question as the #1 HW in the world with a crushing performance over another top-5 HW.

But unlike Forrest, Fedor was widely expected to win the Sylvia fight. Stylistically Sylvia offered nothing Fedor hadn't seen more than once, and stylistically he was probably not in the top 5 most well-rounded guys Fedor has fought.

Where is Anderson Silva?? :headscratch:

In my mind it was a close one between Forrest, Fedor and Silva.
