The upstart DREAM promotion may be finished by September if ratings do not improve, FEG President Sadaharu Tanigawa told Kamipro. DREAM 5 on July 21, which featured the semifinals and final of the Lightweight Grand Prix, was considered a failure with its 10.0% rating for the Tokyo Broadcasting System.
Tanigawa told the Japanese magazine that DREAM will not be viable if it continues to pull in low ratings.
DREAM 5 was DREAM's second chance on primetime. The inaugural DREAM event on March 15 drew a dismal 8.9% that left TBS second to last.
The next DREAM event, featuring the finals of the Middleweight Grand Prix, takes place September 23 from the Saitama Super Arena.

I don't know if this has been posted, but this is bad news. First, rumblings of not paying their fighters in a timely fashion and now this.

Yeah this is really a bummer. DREAM is by far my favorite non-US MMA org.

...Not very many non-US MMA organizations that come to mind, hah...SpiritFCXCORE.
Bummer, though. Wonder where CroCop will buffer his record at.

Sucks, maybe if they go under they can beef up the UFC's LW, MW, and HW divisions.
My 2nd favorite org besides the UFC though.

my fav organization no question. don't want to see it go down, but for every extinction, diversity occurs.
i'd love to see the DREAM fighters in UFC/Affliction.

i'd love to see the DREAM guy in UFC/Affliction. | I would too.
So far the only divisions DREAM has made any real development on are MW and LW. I'd love to see those guys in UFC or Affliction, but they had the opportunity to fight for them before (well for the UFC anyway, Affliction being new) and didn't do it so I don't know why it would happen now.
At any rate, best case scenario is for DREAM to persevere past these tough times and continue as a going concern. I have great hopes for it to one day become a real beast.

What the hell, all this is outta nowhere. When it rains it pours. It seemed like they were sailing along fairly smoothly.

They had some good matches, but in all honesty I never really liked how things seemed to be run in Japan.
It will be interesting to see where the talent lands. Hopefully we won't have star fighters out of the fight game for as long as we did when Pride was bought.

WVR will probably pick up the pieces if DREAM goes bust.
