Great matchup. I'm kinda glad AA's fighting Barnett instead of Fedor so soon...if he can get past Babyface, I think he's definitely ready for a shot.

My ultimate point is what if somehow a fighter had a WAMMA belt and quit Affliction and fought in the UFC? The UFC would have the belt forever.

The WAMMA belt is independent of organization. The question is if say Dream doesn't recognize it as a WAMMA title fight and then Fedor loses who is the WAMMA champ?

If they don't agree, then it's just a regular non-title fight. So, Fedor would keep the belt, W, L, or draw. Or, WVR/Sengoku could make their own title and if Fedor won, he'd be HW champ for WAMMA and WVR/Sengoku.

That's the thought WAMMA wants. it's going to be interesting to see who adopts them. Without a bunch of orgs recognizing it it won't be a credible belt. We know the UFC won't. but if everyone else does and it ever becomes strong they'll have to to claim world champ (undisputed)

For now we can presume that they are safe since Fedor is the title holder but it could get real weird in other weight divisions (since the champ already won't be ranked at #1, since the UFC doesn't recognize them)

| Barnett V Arlovski @ Affliction Quote:
Affliction website: Andrei Arlovski vs. Josh Barnett to headline Oct. 11 event
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Aug 04, 2008 at 11:03 am ET
Affliction Entertainment's next event, dubbed "Day of Reckoning," will take place Oct. 4 and feature a main event between Andrei Arlovski (13-5) and Josh Barnett (23-5), according to afflictionclothing.com.
Barnett replaces top-ranked heavyweight and WAMMA title-holder Fedor Emelianenko (28-1), who was scratched from the pay-per-view event due to a hand injury.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) couldn't immediately reach Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio for confirmation, and messages left with Emelianenko's management weren't returned.
As previously announced, the event will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV in Las Vegas.
After Affliction's July 19 "Banned" debut at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., Atencio was originally mum on the following event's headline bout. However, Emelianenko and Arlovski were reportedly set to meet at the October event. But, as MMAjunkie.com previously reported, Emelianenko was issued a 180-day medical suspension due to a hand injury. He can be cleared early by a doctor -- but only if the injury isn't serious.
Emelianenko defeated former UFC champion Tim Sylvia in just 36 seconds at "Banned." Likewise, Andrei Arlovski defeated Ben Rothwell via knockout. The two clear-cut fan favorites were then expected to headline the second show for what would likely be Affliction's most marketable bout to date.
Instead, Barnett, who defeated and avenged a previous loss to Pedro Rizzo at "Banned," will get the fight instead.
No other bouts have been confirmed for the event, though a number of fighters -- including Sylvia, Rizzo, Aleksander Emelianenko and others -- have publicly stated that they plan to be a part of Affliction's second event.
"Day of Reckoning" tickets are available as a pre-sale for previous Affliction customers beginning Wednesday (Aug. 6) at 10 a.m. PT.

I think Arlovski can beat Barnett, I dont think barnetts TD's are good enough to get Arlovski to the floor. Arlovski by KO.

I'd much rather see Sylvia vs Barnett and Arlovski against someone else. I don't know who but I'm dying to see Barnett and Sylvia battle it out. It could be for the king of the goofs title. I'm a fan of both guys but both are goofy as hell.
I'm still stoked about this fight though. Looks like Sylvia vs Rizzo could be on the horizon.
