Default Disney bans UFC from ABC and Espn

The parent company of abc and espn have banned anything having to do with UFC from their networks. Ufc had ads for tito vs shamrock 3 but will never carry adds or footage for the UFC again. Story can be found here

That's what I was talking about on here yesterday. I got the email from Spike TV rep. about that, didn't really understand what it meant.

Default Disney

Doesn't FOX have PRIDE? I think that MMA doesn't fit in with the Disney image so they wont endorse it on ESPN or CBS.

Pretty friggin dumb if you ask me!

i think you're misinterpreting the article somewhat. ESPN has a ban against any advertising for sports that are no shown on ESPN (or their affiliated channels).

They can still have UFC fighters on shows or talk about UFC events, etc. They just won't allow any UFC commercials or commercials for any other sports not shown for that matter.

They're just following their own rules.

ESPN sent out the following memo to their affiliates today:

Effective immediately, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) ads are no longer accepted on the Disney & ESPN family of networks. UFC ads are a direct violation of our Affiliate agreements "Affiliate shall not insert into the ESPN network advertisements or promotions of any sports program." Please contact your programming colleagues for complete advertising restrictions. ESPN is not accepting these ads on a national level, and the same restrictions apply for our local Affiliates. Thank you for your cooperation and immediate attention to this matter.
