Just a quick question. I was wondering if anyone knows the deal with the UFC referees. Are they only contracted to UfC or are they now hired for all MMA event with the NSAC? Is there a chance we will see and UFC ref's on the Pride PPV. I was just wondering how the NSAC can let a company choose who it's ref's are. It seems that Ref's should not be under contract with one single MMA org. Is there any specialized training that they need to go through before they are a certified ref.

no they are brought in by state athletic commissions, not just nevada, but wherever they take place

Like Binimac said, the ref's are trained and provided by the state athletic commision. So they can ref any event that they are available for, although I'm sure that the Organization can request that certain refs be used. For example Big John reffing for the UFC.

Well I have seen Herb Dean ref for other org's like KOTC but not Big John. And I dont know enough about the rules or governing bodies to say.

So it is possible that Big John could ref the Pride PPV. Not probable, but possible.

i read somewhere, but it could be wrong so please dont take it to heart, but i read that big john is strickly ufc ref, or somthing to that affect

I think Dana White would explode if he saw Big John refing a Pride event.
