| When will Matt Serra fight next?
I know this isn't an important question but i was just curious. I am one of the few Serra fans on this board and would like to see him fight again soon. I have the feeling that Dana doesn't like Serra that much and is giving him the "Okami" treatment because either he thinks he's boring or just doesn't like his personality. I was thinking, have Serra drop down to LW again and have him fight Frankie Edgar and put it on the November card.
Does anyone know anything about Serra's contract?

Personally I don't think that Serra is up for another run at a title. The guy makes decent coin, as I think he has at least a couple very active schools in New Jersey.

Agreed, he's supposed to fight Hughes, but with Hughes injured I wonder if he'll get an interim fight.

He will be fighting again when Matt Hughes is healthy and can start training again.

Serra had his 15 minutes, its over... TUF4 was it for him as I dont think he would have a sniff of a title shot any other way.
Maybe TUF 15 - the comback, comeback comeback might be his next one |

I like the guy as well but he has said before he doesn't wanna cut the weight anymore to get to 155 so i think thats out.
With Hughes being out for a while i don't really know who he could fight that would be exciting if he's getting the treatment like your saying he'll be on the prelims against up and comers or cans.
I for would like to see Swick fight him i like Swick as well but the contrasting styles and size difference makes me wanna see that fight.

Hughes might not be ready for another several months and Serra hasn't fought since April. Why not give him a fight in between. Serra vs Swick might be a good fight.

I for one think there are a ton of good matches for Serra at LW. I would love to see Serra take on Thales Leites, Kenny Florian, Roger Huerta, Frankie Edgar, Hermes Franca. Damn I'm drooling at the thought of those fights.

Serra has said for a long time that he he doesn't really want to fight more than twice a year. His schools in NYC are very successful and he likes to focus his time on trainning fighters. Also, I doubt that his back injury is something that is just going to go away.
As far as Serra to LW. I would love to see it. I think with his overall skill set he drops in as a top 5 LW, and he might actually have the skills to be able to contend for that title. Ithink the 2 best under BJ (Sherk and Stevenson) would have all they could handle with Serra. I'd give both of those fights 50/50 odds. As far as the other LWs, I don't think it would even be fair. Serra's BJJ is lightyears ahead of any of the other top 10 and his is Sherk strong, so he certainly won't be beaten by strength.
