whats the deal with dean lister. dont get me wrong i like to watch him fight but why do i always here he is gonna be the person to beat silva, would some one tell me why incase im missing somthing

he's the Abu Dhabi Absolute champ, as well as the champ in his weight class.
nobody in the MW division has ground game like him. but his striking game is about on par with Matt Hamill, but with less power
the only person in the UFC with that kind of credentials is Jeff Monson, but he is about 60 pounds to heavy to be fighting Anderson Silva.

I love Abu Dhabi!!! I wish there was better video out there of it. Marcello Garcia is my favorate fighter. My trainer made it to the Quarter finals in LW the first year of the turny. They need to put it on ESPN or something because it is truly an important part of the fight scene.

Lister's submission skills are top notch. Out of his 13 fights he has had 10 wins by submission, 1 decision win and 4 losses all by decision(to the likes of Horn, Arrona, Suloev). And has the ADCC history, This definitly gives him the bonafides to be in title contention. I however would like to see him fight at 185lbs w/ a more impressive win then his last decision victory. The main issue is at 185lbs they have very little to throw in front of Anderson Sylvia(I do mean throw in front of) IMO the UFC has a hard time keeping the top of their divisions competitive, most likely due to salaries.  | |

im sorry but i think Marquardt is gunna stomp Lister standing. if Lister can get him to the ground it's all over, but i see this fight ending by KO...and i dont even like Marquardt :banghead:

I'll need to see something more out of Lister than what he did in his last fight before I'll be too impressed with the guy. I agree - he seems a bit overhyped at the moment.

Despite an incredible ground game, the only way Lister would beat A. Silva is if he broke Silva's knee with his nose.
