The plan was to build Allesio up a bitbefore putting him in front of Shields. At this point, Shields has garnered enough attention that you have to have somone worthy to fight him. Nick Thompson was a good opponent, but he still had to be sold to the public (12 straight wins, Bodog champ, who he's fought, etc) Allesio does,'t have the resume that Pyle nor Thompson has, so selling him would be tough without a few wins.
I hope Howie is right. Maybe Shields enters another GP, or they actually do put him up against a big name MW.
