ok i have been aufc fan for about 2 1/2 years now so i need a few questions answered 1 what are the major differences between the 2 orgs and what makes alot of people think pride is better and have superior talent 2 if wandy was beaten by tito and most people dont give him a chance against chuck why all the talk that wandy will demolish chuck

Basically, Pride has the best fighters. UFC has a 'charismatic' president to convince people otherwise.

UFC does have Mike 'The Count' Bisping though, so still worth watching.

Its kinda like NinjaShogunRua said... MMA math doesnt work. It's way too twisted and anything can happen in MMA. For instance the Wandy vs Tito fight you speak of... it was back in 2000 when they were both basically rookies. Then you have the Pride tourny over 3 years ago where we saw Chuck lose to Rampage then Rampage lost to Silva. So does that mean all this will still be the results today?? Hell no!. Chuck woudl be more favored to win over Rampage now and we already saw him beat Ortiz which we'll prob see again in December. Therefore that leaves us wanting to see the 2 that have never hooked up and have proven the most(my opinion) which is Chuck vs Silva.

i was just wanting to know other peoples thoughts because i agree you never know the outcome until the cage opens at the end of the fight. it just seems to me that poeple were so set these outcomes that i wanted to know why they thought like that if it was just personal preferences or something i was to naive to pick up on

lol I've seen several other cages (which, personally, I do prefer to a ring although both have benefits).

I do agree, however, that the 'octagon' is a far superior name to the 'eight sided polygons' other promotions have due to trademark lawsuits from Zuffa...

The main differences :-

UFC allows elbow strikes and fights in a caged enviroment. They do not allow kicks / stomps to a downed opponent in the head or chest. The events are almost entirely in the US and the audience is almost all European and American.

Pride fights in a slightly larger than boxing ring with the normal ropes. They do not allow elbow strikes as they believe them to cut too easily, they do allow kicking and head kicks to a downed opponent. Most of their events take place in Japan and overall they take a higher level of viewing figures and have a more worldwide audience.

As for the talent pool Pride definately has the better Heavyweight division as argueably their top5 fighters would take big Tim out. Fedor is widely thought to be the best heavyweight and pound for pound fighter around at the moment. Their LHW division also seems to have more depth than UFCs though the top dog here is something for discussion.

This is where Wandy vs Chuck comes in. Chuck didnt have the success he's had in the UFC when he fought in Pride, Wandy is the same but opposite. Nobody knows the answer to who would win that one. Personally I think that Chucks stand up is cleaner and less wild than Wandys and in the caged enviroment of the UFC Chuck would dominate. If it were in the ring, I think it'd probably be closer but i'd still give Chuck the KO due to his style being less wild and his history of picking his shots well. But thats where it's all down to opinion.

i like the octagon because you fighters can pin people against and really throw elbows and punches and stopping them is harder because of postioning
