| J-Mac steps in for J-Day vs. Jason Lambert @ UFC 88 Quote:
MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Canadian middleweight Jason “Dooms” Day has withdrawn from his scheduled September 6th bout with Jason “The Punisher” Lambert. According to the report, Day suffered an elbow and biceps injury that will require him to undergo a MRI and keep him out of the fight.
Sherdog.com is now reporting that Day’s replacement will be fellow Canadian Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald.
MacDonald, a native of Pictou County, Nova Scotia, possesses a UFC record of 4-3 with victories over Ed Herman, Chris Leben, Rory Singer, and Joe Doerksen. MacDonald’s most recent outing came at UFC 87: Seek and Destroy where he fell victim to the ground game of Demian Maia after three grueling rounds.
Jason Lambert is looking to test his hand at 185 pounds after spending the majority of his career in the light heavyweight division. Lambert has gone 4-3 in the UFC with victories over Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Branden Lee Hinkle, Terry Martin, and Rob MacDonald.
UFC 88: Breakthrough is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The card will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout featuring former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Rashad Evans.

I think McDonald needs to slow down a bit, has a ton of skill, just needs to work on his game plan sometimes... No way should he of tried to beat Maia on the ground...

Perhaps they are going against their non tournament policy. Maybe we'll get to even see a Jasonweight title of some sort. Epic.
Now all we need is Mayhem. You can't have a Jason tournament without Mayhem.

| J-Mac steps in for J-Day vs. Wilson Gouveia @ UFC 88 Lambert-MacDonald Aligned for UFC 88 Quote: Tuesday, August 19, 2008
by Loretta Hunt (lhunt@sherdog.com)
Possibly a nod to his well-received three-round tilt with Demian Maia at UFC 87 on Aug. 9, Jason MacDonald will be back in action sooner rather than later. The Red Deer, Alberta resident will replace an injured Jason Day against Jason Lambert at UFC 88 “Breakthrough” on Sept. 6 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.
The bout will mark Lambert’s debut at middleweight, who spent the entirety of his seven-year career toiling in the 205-pound ranks. After reeling off a trio of Octagon wins in 2006, Lambert (23-8) has dropped his last three out of four, necessitating a change of pace for the Carlsbad, Calif. resident.
The well-rounded Lambert holds a key knockout victory over Renato “Babalu” Sobral at UFC 68 “Uprising” in March 2007, where the father of one came back from deficit to overcome the regarded Brazilian.
Like Lambert, MacDonald got off to a brisk start in the UFC with a pair of slick submission victories, but fell to former divisional champion Rich Franklin at UFC 68. MacDonald has flipped between wins and losses ever since, but his gutsy Aug. 9 performance against Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Maia was considered a highlight of UFC 87’s card.
