Dave Meltzer reports that the California State Athletic Comission has announced that there was one failure for drugs on each show, and the people who failed will be announced tomorrow. No word on why they're turning this into such a dramatic event:
Bill Douglas of the CSAC released that B samples have been returned positive for one fighter on both the July 19th Affliction show in Anaheim and the July 25 EliteXC CBS card in Stockton.
The names will be released tomorrow after notification of the promotions and fighters. Douglas also announced Fabio Negao and Matt Lindland on the Affliction show are clear, as are Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith on the EliteXC show.
I guess results are slowly coming in, and they're just going to announce them as they come. These could be the first failures of many, or the only ones.
Here is the list of fighters that have been cleared on each show so far. Just as a reminder, Justin Levens was suspended.
Affliction:
Ray Lizama
Gary Goodridge
Paul Buentello
Terry Martin
Vitor Belfort
JJ Ambrose
Mike Pyle
Mike Whitehead
Renato Sobral
Savant Young
Mark Hominick
Pedo Rizzo
Josh Barnett
Ben Rothwell
Andrei Arlovski
Fabio Negao
Matt Lindland
EliteXC:
Brandon Tarn
Drew Montgomery
Mike Cook
Carl Seumanutafa
Marlon Matias
David Douglas
Jeremy Freitag
Anthony Ruiz
Bryan Caraway
Wilson Reis
Travis Galbraith
Rafael Feijao
Shayna Baszler
Cristiane Cyborg Santos
Thomas Denny
Nick Diaz
Scott Smith
Robbie Lawler
On the Affliction side, this leaves only Fedor Emelianenko, Tim Sylvia, Antonio Nogueira, and Edwin Dewees. I can only imagine what will happen if it's Fedor, but we do know Tim has been popped for it before.
On the Pro Elite side, we have Jake Shields, Nick Thompson, Antonio Silva, and Justin Eilers.
My list comes from Bryan Alvarez who just posted a full list on his board. The information is publicly available too. I'm a little concerned about posting this because of all the speculation it will cause, and it could turn out to be nothing, but it sounds like we will have at least one major drug failure tomorrow, unless it turns out to be Edwin Dewees and Justin Eilers.
| There ya go boys, hopefully its Edwin Dewees and Eilers.
i don't know it any of it is true but how awful would it be if it was Fedor and Shields, MY FANATASY SEASON WOULD BE RUINED. EliteXC and Affliction Drug Test Failures Will be Announced*Tomorrow - Bloody Elbow

Can I ask WHY there is a fore warning of a "Positive Test" announcement? Does that reek of strange to anyone else?

My guess is Eilers)because he was giving up a huge weight/size advantage and needed all the help he could get. And then Tim, well, because he was fighting Fedor.

Good to hear that neither AA, Barnett, or Belfort were positive.

Fedor probably tested positive for Russian medication. Not illegal and doesn't enhance anything, but im guessing he tested positive for Valocardin (spelling). Popular in Russia and Germany. Reduces stress, makes you sleepy, and keeps you calm.
