| EliteXC exec denies company troubles, confirms new schedule of events EliteXC exec denies company troubles, confirms new schedule of events | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
Many industry insiders have speculated that a canceled EliteXC card scheduled for Sept. 20 in Albuquerque, N.M., coupled with a recently scrapped Cage Rage Contenders card from the U.K., signals impending disaster for EliteXC and parent company ProElite.
EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) that things are just fine within the organization and that a slew of new events has been scheduled for the fall.
"EliteXC will not be going on Sept. 20," Shaw said. "I'm the vice president of EliteXC, so I don't really know all the matters that occur with the Cage Rages or ICONs of the world. But I can tell you that EliteXC is fully functional and fully healthy."
(The Cage Rage and ICON Sport promotions are part of the ProElite family.)
Shaw echoed ProElite CEO Chuck Champion's earlier statements that the decision to scrap the Sept. 20 card was made in order to focus on the company's next CBS broadcast.
"Some things happen on a larger scale not necessarily that we're not privy to, but we're busy working on other events," Shaw said. "For EliteXC we just felt that we needed to clear the runway for a big landing on Oct. 4."
Beyond the Oct. 4 CBS broadcast, Shaw said the company has a full slate of Showtime-based programming in the very near future.
"We have a large schedule of mixed martial arts fights coming up," Shaw said. "We have Sept. 26 in Santa Barbara -- our ShoXC featuring that world title fight (between 140-pound fighters Bao Quach and Wilson Reis). Oct. 4 (we're) on CBS featuring 'Kimbo Slice' and Gina Carano. Oct. 10 on Showtime -- ShoXC will feature the heavyweight phenom, Dave Herman. And (we) will be back on Nov. 8 with another tremendous Showtime show.
"All that says to me a healthy, healthy company."
Shaw also addressed some of the rumors surrounding EliteXC's stable of fighters. Middleweight Joe Villasenor, the first fighter announced for the now canceled Albuquerque show, should find himself on the newly announced November card.
"Joe [Villasenor], we've discussed where we're going to place him," Shaw said. "We're going to have another big date in November. So Joe will definitely be appearing sometime in the fall. And he's definitely in line for a world title shot."
Shaw also said rumors of a possible Jake Shields bout with Matt Lindland on Affliction's upcoming Oct. 4 "Day of Reckoning," event were unfounded.
"We have 100 percent not signed off on that fight," Shaw said. "That fight hasn't even been brought to our attention from the Affliction camp or from the Shields camp. I know there have been talks of that, but that's all it is -- talks.
"Jake Shields will defend his title for EliteXC. And he will do that in the fall, also. Whether it's October or November, we are going to have a worthy, worthy challenger in front of Jake. And he's going to need to fully, 100 percent focus on that challenge in front of him."
Shaw also addressed the possibility of a much-hyped bout between EliteXC superstar Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and rival Brett Rogers.
"I think that's a fight that's definitely going to come off at some point," Shaw said. "One-hundred percent, those two need to meet and settle this little dispute they're having over who's better than who. But there's been no guarantees that that fight will happen Oct. 4. Opponents are still being discussed for Kimbo."

Sure ProElite needs a $3M loan to make it until the end of the year and another $3M loan to survive past the end of the year and not getting either one of those loans will severly hinder the companies capability to operate but hey we have lots of events lined up so we must be doing good right?

Also, did anyone notice this? Quote: |
ProElite CEO Chuck Champion
| Their CEO's name is Chuck Champion? That may be the most badass name I've ever heard, and he is a CEO for an MMA org.
