many of u prolly arent fans of wrestling, but those who are like myself will agree that the art in wrestling is long gone. i enjoy a beautiful fake wrestling match as much as a brutal mma bout any day. i dnt think the man meant any disrespect to mma as he did admit to being a fan so props. i think he was just saying a wrestling match in which no one is really hurt is just as good as a mma fight.
i think this interview is either old or he repeated what hes already said cuz i swear ive heard him say all this before.

Don't quote me on that, it's just what I heard on a documentary.

I'll use WWE and UFC as examples,WWE sells out arenas four times a week,UFC does once, maybe twice a month. WWE runs four shows on national television that air every week, each of which average 1.5-4.0 ratings. UFC airs Unleashed, and a Fight Night here and there, which averae in the 0.5-1.5 range. The closest UFC has ever come to matching a WWE television rating is when they aired UFC 75 for free on Spike. The only thing that's relatively close or comparable between the two right now is PPV buyrates. Each average about the same unless it's a huge show, and even in the PPV Market, aside from Liddell/Ortiz II,nothing the UFC has put out has come close to the PPV buys any Wrestlemania has done. Quote:

"something went wrong with the stunt harness, apparently triggering the release mechanism early as he was being lowered. Hart fell 78 feet (24 meters) into the ring, landing chest-first on the top rope, approximately a foot from the nearest turnbuckle, throwing him into the ring. Hart had performed the stunt only a few times before and was worried about performing the stunt at Kemper Arena due to the height involved. Hart's wife Martha has suggested that, by moving around to get comfortable with both the harness and his cape on, Hart unintentionally triggered an early release." Quote:

I love MMA but I don't wanna see blood, I be happy with not seeing any.Who here wants to see fighters bleed? raise your hands!! | 1 every 2 weeks is extremly exaggerated. I like to see some blood, depending on the fight, and the fighters. Ex: If Melvin Guillard gets a Vitor/Eastmen type cut,I won't be losing to much sleep over it. Quote:

Seems like he's also quite worried about the safety of the fighters, which is understandable, but I've been watching wrestling for a decade+ and have been in a ring before, and I can honestly say I'd take a dozen punches to the face over a dozen bumps in a ring. Both are dangerous arts/sports,but MMA is for sure the safer of the two.

I hate when unknowledgeable people of the sport call it Ultimate Fighting, like the UFC = MMA. I know the UFC is the most well known MMA org, but there is MMA outside of the UFC. That's like me watching the NFL and calling it Patriot Football.

It is almost sad to hear a person, who was once at the top of his game, comment on how the situation has turned. Wrestling had it's time in the, but now I think the turn from wrestling and boxing just goes to show how much smarter the fans have become. Cause let's face it boxing might be and was at one time just as fixed as wrestling.

Sounds like Brett "The Bitchman" Hart is sad that people might actually watch something real.
His ignorance is hilarious. Quote: |
In ultimate fighting, when you see these guys really punching faces, and drilling guys until the ref usually stops it, I think, always a couple seconds too late, that's an incredible amount of brain damage being done
| The ref USUALLY stops it??
I'm pretty sure the ref has always stopped it! If someone is down/out and is getting beaten on, the ref will stop it. Stop blowing smoke out of your ass "Shitman" and understand the sport more.
All that "acting" that needed to be done to promote the sport of professional wrestling didn't end up dangerous?
I don't think he needs to be reminded about his brother...

i think he is trying to express how wrestling used to be, the days of awa, stampede and all star, it had a much more violent feel to it back then, and if wrestling still had that feel, then the ufc would still be banned in many states, like it was when if first came into being.
i think he was going along the lines of wrestlers dont intentionally go out and hurt each other, the blood is more often then not a blade job.
that being said, he states how he does respect the fighters, and does watch it, he is a guy who loves what his profession used to be and wishes it had that real feel to it that the ufc has.
but this is just my take on what he MIGHT mean. its nice to see a wrestler realize how hard it is to be a real fighter, unlike that idiot jesse ventura

I'm sure you could ask Brock Lesnar which he prefers...having a 15 minute match every week, 52 weeks a year in a different city every week or one every 3-4 months and training in between and no insane travel schedule.
I would wager that there's more injuries in the WWE than the UFC in a calender year.
