MMA Fiend: Tristan Yunker Wants to Fight Nick Diaz on Nov 8th EliteXC

Quote:
From a thread he made on the UG, under his SN "TMFY," which means Tristan Mother Fucking Yunker for those of you not "in the know".

[Dear EliteXC]

Please let me fight Nick Diaz on November 8th!!

I know there are a lot of question marks surrounding me as a possible opponent, but this is not an opportunity I would take for granted. I'm 12-8 overall as a pro, which I understand isn't overly impressive, until you take into account that I'm undefeated as a lightweight w/ first round submission victories over UFC Vets, Clay Guida & John Halverson; Human Weapon TV Show Host, Jason Chambers; Shooto Vet, Tom Niinimaki; and previously unbeatens, Jameel Massouh, Jeremy Wingler, and Dan Loman. And my only 3 recent losses coming from fighting up at 170 & 185 to the hands of 2 UFC vets, Rob Kimmons & Pete Spratt; and Pride vet, Hector Lombard. After taking over 6 months off since my last bout, I've recently recommitted my life to fighting, and added a new diet as well as some new training to my routine and it has really rejuvenated my outlook on fighting.

This is nothing personal against Nick, as I've never met the guy, but I feel that this would be a very good match-up that would re-establish me as a top lightweight. Besides, whats the worst that could happen? I win, and you establish a new, marketable 160 lb contender? Not too mention, a contender that matches up very well w/ the current Champion, whom you cant be overly happy with at this point.

Thank you for your time & consideration!

-Tristan Yunker

I say if he wants it that bad to let him have it. I really do not think he will get that far in the fight but it would be interesting none the less. I think Diaz by Sub in Rd. 2

Tristan is one of my very good friends and believe me when I tell you he would give Diaz or just abot anyone else a run for his money at 160

This kid is nowhere near proven enough to fight diaz.

I don't blame him for looking for a payday, but earn it, don't beg for it

I say let him have it. It could be a sleeper fight of the yr. Could be a Rocky scenario.

Why the hell not. If Ken Shamrock could get a main event spot with Kimbo, why can't this kid have a go at Diaz?

fisrt round victories over Clay Guida, John Halverson and Jason Chambers and all of his recent losses were one or two weightclasses above his normal weight to very good competition, he is legit!

Diaz hasnt exactly looked great lately and his record isnt that much greater at 18-7

Tristan is only 22 so if he doesnt get this fight its no big deal, his day will come

I think Guida would tool Diaz, so I'd like to see Tristan get a shot. The guy deserves it more than any of Diaz' recent opponents.

See now, that's the way to ask for a fight. He wasn't a dick about it/cocky, and he presented logical reasons why EliteXC (I don't think the UFC would care for this or even notice it) should give him a shot. Only problem is he needs to probably have at least on 160 lbs. fight again before Nick to give any credibility to the fight for the common fan. He's lost three in a row, albeit at higher weight classes. If he hadn't gone up in weight like that and stayed at LW, he'd probably be looking like a really strong contender right now.

Either way, good on him.

I just have to add that Guida is one of my FAVORITE fighters. Guy's got heart, will, no fear, great talent. I was upset at his loss to Huerta and iof they fought again, he'd tool the shit outta of Roger like he did for 2 and half rounds- and this time he would win. I don't know if Clay would beat Diaz though. Either way, Tristan subbing Clay is a pretty nice notch.
