Bonnar - Thoughts

So I've liked Bonnar from the get go, and despite his drug failure and subsequent suspension, I think he's still got a hell of an upside and training with Couture can't hurt.

At any rate, my post is to see what you guys think about him, whether anyone feels he's recovered from the loss of Gracie, or where he might stand in the LHW mix when he returns from his injury.

Days back I said he should go to the WEC, but there folding that weight division. IMO, he'll usually bring a good fight but he'll never be a real contender for the title.

Isn't that what people said about Forrest.

I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

Good one.

As for Bonnar I do believe that he's capable of being a true competitor for most fighters. If you've seen his fights with Forrest and Machida he's got real toughness and loves to compete.

As for how far he can go I don't know. I just feel that he belongs in the UFC and should provide us with some entertaining matches down the road.

If Bonnar can stay healthy, he's definitely capable of building some momentum for himself upon return. IMO he would have beaten Matt Hamill if that fight had gone down.

I honestly believe that he can achieve Forrest-like status within a couple of years.

bonnar has not and will not be missed, he is a c level fighter in any org, he has 0 drawing power and is kinda boring. he is lost in the ufc.

not bad on the mic though :grinsmile1:. jmo.

I've liked Bonnar ever since he told Diego Sanchez not to be stupid. That was gold.

Bonnar is a tough guy. I remember someone was saying that he's a golden glove boxer? anyone have more details into his boxing credentials?

He doesn't have any drawing power because he's been hampered by injuries and other things of that nature, so they haven't been able to market him consistently. Bonnar's got serious skills, and he'd give a good many UFC 205ers more than a couple of fits.
