ATT's Thiago Silva confirmed exclusively to InTheguard.tv that he's out the fight against Lyoto Machida in UFC 89 Saturday, October 18 - England
Silva sustains a long time injury in his back and during training the injury reached a chronic stage and he was forced to withdraw from the semi-event against fellow Brazilian.

Silva is in Brazil treating the injury and doing physiotherapy twice a day.

"My will was to fight with 40% of my condition, but after the doctors' evaluation, along with Ricardo Liborio - he decided that I wouldn't fight in UFC 89." Silva stated

Well this fuckin sucks. Does this mean the UFC substitutes him for some no name for Machida to fight, which will get him nowhere in the UFC rankings?

Winning wasnt going to help alot but losing to a chump replacement will definately hurt. Not that he was going to lose to Silva but it would be a more respectable lose then some no name guy the UFC tries to feed him

True, because even if he beat Silva, most likely they would make him fight atleast once more before awarding a title shot.

I'd like to see him fight Jon Jones now, or Sandman
