| Jim Rome Trashes the Idea of Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva Jim Rome Trashes the Idea of Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva « MMA Fiend Quote: |
Tonight on Rome is Burning, Jim Rome said this about Chuck Liddell: “Chuck you now look like the drunken frat guy at a party who hit on the wrong guy’s girl and ended up on queer street…. There’s now speculation that Liddell will try to get his cred back by challenging Anderson Silva. Chuck, my man, if you got any sense and you don’t want to end up nose flat on the mat, you’d be wise to stay as far away from The Spider as possible.”
While I agree that Anderson Silva would demolish Chuck Liddell (I think he could hold the belt if he were so inclined), Rome is being a dickhead.
It looks like Joe Rogan agrees: There's a real problem that I see in sports broadcasting where it's OK to be a fucking dick head.
We don't need that shit in MMA. It's tough enough for these guys to take a loss like that, the last thing they need is some shit head like Rome rubbing it in their face.
Well said, Joe, well said. He really is a shit head.

I do think it's really cool that he waited until after Lidell suffered a devestating KO to pick Silva to win.

Still, though, Rome has always been on my shit list. The way he phrased those comments was completely unprofessional and un-called for.

I'm not really a big fan of Rome, but Silva probably would KO Chuck. It seems that everyone has caught up with Liddell and he is no longer a threat the the LHW division.

I just think the LHW division is A. way to deep now... and B. Wrestlers have found out how to beat Chuck now... It always used to be, if you're a wrestler/grappler, you gotta take chuck down, thats the only way to beat chuck, and as the wrestler tries to shoot time after time, (while chucks takedown defense is excellent) the wrestler gets caught... and thats how chuck ate wrestlers for breakfast... Chuck has been figured out.
His last 4 fights... lets put them in perspective.
1. KO loss to Rampage.
2. Decision loss to Jardine.
3. Close decision victory of Wand. Although it was clear Chuck defeated Wand, it wasnt such a dominant victory. There was no KO. Chuck even went for a takedown in the last minute of the fight. W T F? lol. Wand also was timid and coming off two losses... both fighters very cautious.
4. KO loss from RASHAD EVANS!!!

I usually agree with Jim Rome, and as a big fan of chuck, I still agree with him here. As much as I've enjoyed watching Chuck, he does seem to be out of his prime, so I don't really see why he would immediately want to fight one of the top p4p in the world following a knockout like that. I'd like to see if he could get his game back first.
And why all the hate on Rome? He's like the only fan of MMA on ESPN. At least he was covering the sport.
Didn't like the tone? The show is called "Jim Rome is Burning". He has to burn on something.
