| Hermes Franca vs Marcus Aurelio: A South Florida Grudge Match The MMA Fiend - Mixed Martial Arts News and Commentary » Blog Archive » Hermes Franca vs Marcus Aurelio: A South Florida Grudge Match Quote:
The upcoming bout between two of Florida’s premier lightweight’s is a very interesting match up in more than one way. First lets state the obvious reason, both fighters are very evenly matched, Both are Bjj black belts with explosive submissions and both have shown a willingness to stand and bang it out in the past. Those are the obvious reasons, now lets get to the not so obvious reasons. These guys don’t like one another at all and are very eager to fight one another. Former training partners turned opponents always makes for a great fight, but in this case there is a lot of bad blood between the two stemming back to Franca’s split form ATT a few years ago. In a recent interview Auerilo had this to say about Franca: Quote: |
Obviously he got out pissed, but we weren’t friends for a long time ago. He always was a little fishiness, and a lot of people were pissed with him. Almost the whole team doesn’t like him. The funny thing is that not only people from our team doesn’t like him. A lot of people called me wanting to help me for this fight, it was pretty funny, people calling me and saying: “Marcus, I wanna help you. You have to beat up this guy!”.
| Never being one to bite his tounge Franca came back with this when asked about this fight by Tatame: Quote: |
Actually, I was kind of surprised, because like I said, Bigfoot told me that he was out of UFC. I think about call Joe Silva (UFC’s matchmaker), because I was going to face a guy that is not well known here in America and did some horrible fights in the event. All fights I did in UFC were good, all of them, received the best knockout bonus, best submission, even when I lost it was the best fight of the night. But I stop to think about it: “you know what, I’ll fight, because I don’t respect him as a man and I’ll be paid for that”.
| | Being a big fan of both these guys I am very excited for this fight. I think based on the obvious bad blood between the two it will end up being a war and one of the best fights on the card
