Quarry has lost one fight in the past few years and that was against Rich Franklin of all people.

Not sure why people keep talking as if Maia is already in the upper echelon of fighters at this point in the game. He's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he is THAT far ahead of Quarry in terms of skills.


I'll be the lone dissenter and say Quarry wins by TKO.

No offense but how is fighting Nate Quarry(a guy who has been top contender before) an insult? At this point in Maia's career a win over Quarry can only help him, should he win. IMO Nate's no slouch either.

No you're absolutely right. That's what I mean, since Okami is out those are the contender's behind him. I have no clue when Okami will be set to return, so in that case, Bisping with a win over Leben, and the winner of Maia vs Quarry will be the front runners. A match-up of winner vs winner for title shot only makes sense, unless Silva doesn't move back up to LHW for a fight, in which case he'll probably fight either or.
I really hope they don't make Silva fight Chuck, unless they plan on giving Chuck ONLY one more fight. I can't see Chuck beating Silva, and a loss would almost definitely spell the end for Chuck.

I like Quarry he is a good guy, but I too would have liked to have seen Maia/Palhares.
Either way a win for a relatively new mma guy over Quarry can only be a good thing.

Well Quarry did get ktfo by Rich, but then he was injured for a long time.

So the way your making it sound is that he beat a bunch of fighters since then. When he has only fought 2 times since then.

Once against Sell who he looked like shit against, and then Starnes who ran.

What skills has Nate shown. That he has power. From what i have seen thats really all he has showed. He striking is average imo at best.

I don't hate Nate or anything.

Not to mention Nate is 36, an won't be getting much better. Maia is much younger an getting better all the time.

This is imo grappler vs striker.

Maia could come out an strike with Nate, because as i said he is improving all the time. Also it helps when he trains all the time with Wandy. Or Maia can sub him.

Only thing Nate can do is ko or tko him.

I take Maia by sub, round 2.

what a test for nate, who i like, but nate hasnt looke comfortable since coming back from his injury, however he is a gamer, i dont see him winning though, i want him too, but i am not going to hold my breath.
