| Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry at UFC 91 Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry at UFC 91 :: TATAME Quote:
By Guilherme Cruz
With a perfect MMA career after eight wins in eight fights, Demian Maia remains unbeatable after three submission victories in UFC’s octagon, and he’s already training for his next bout. The UFC 91’s most important fight will be Randy Couture’s back to Ultimate against an young Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight title, and Demian Maia will face Nathan Quarry, at November 15th. Against the new opponent, Demian keeps training hard in Brazil, still without a specific training for Nate.
"I didn’t study his fights yet, I’ll receive a DVD with his fights, but I only watch my opponents’ fights when the fight gets closer. I’m training a lot my stand up game like for the last fight, but every time I can I do some BJJ trainings”, said the black belt, that helped Frank Mir to coach his team at The Ultimate Fighter 8. “I helped him there in June and the show debut yesterday. I’m his BJJ coach. As I couldn’t get there in the beginning, and asked them to call Robert (Drysdale) and then I went there to help Frank Mir’s team”, said Demian, that enjoyed the new experience. “It was very cool, different… I never did nothing like that before, it’s interesting”, told the black belt, that remains in Brazil until October, when he goes to USA to get ready for the fight with Rafael Alejarra.
| Interesting match up, i see Maia taking it to the ground and submitting Quarry relatively easy, but if Nate can keep it standing could be Fight Of The Night material.

I agree. It sounds like a weird matchup.

"Demian Maia remains unbeatable" lol. This is a great matchup, I'm a big fan of Maia, so I hope he can get another sweet, slick submission victory.
Also, Mir's team was able to learn BJJ from Drysdale AND Maia?! Talk about a dream coaching staff for grapplers.

I wonder if the winner gets the winner of Silva/Cote, or if they'd make them get one more win. With the shallow MW division it wouldn't surprise me if this was for title contention. The only other names that come to mind are Bisping, with a win over Leben, or Hendo...but I think he needs another win first.

I like Quarry and all, but this is an insult to Maia, he needs to be fighting someone better IMO. With that said, Maia via Sub early round 1.

Maia is definitely a stud and I die to watch him fight every time. This should be an awesome battle. Him against Jason The Athlete was definitely the real deal. I can't wait for this card, now!

Cote is getting the title shot that would have went to Okami. The winner of Bisping vs Leben should fight the winner of Quarry vs Mia for the title shot. If Silva dominates easily there is alot of talk of him fighting at 205 against Chuck in December.

i havent seen a complete maia fight, but with his results, i think he deserves a bit better than a fight with quarry.
