UFC Announces Special Dec. 10 Event
Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White announced a special event taking place Dec. 10 at Fort Bragg, NC titled “UFC Fights for the Troops,” during the UFC Fight Night 15 broadcast Wednesday night in Omaha. The three-hour special will air on Spike TV and benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and allow viewers to call in and donate to support soldiers injured in combat.
“UFC and Spike TV are going to present a three hour event. It’s called ‘UFC Fights for the Troops.’ And it’s to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund,” said White. “The goal will be to raise millions of dollars to help the National Intrepid Center of Excellence.
“Basically what that is, it’s a treatment center for men and women in the military who’ve experienced traumatic brain injuries.” explained the UFC president. “Throughout the night viewers will be able call in and donate money to the cause.”
“UFC Fights for the Troops” will be the second time a military base moonlighted as a venue for a UFC fight card. On Dec. 13, 2006, the UFC telecasted from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California.

Trying to follow in the steps of WWE, the only thing I would say is why don't they make a silent donation instead of boasting about it.
I always like the people who make silent donations, instead of people who give then talk about how great they are for giving to charity.

Can't see that happening they will probably match dollar for dollar.
Great cause, but so very calculating on their part, war=patriotism.

Serving a cause greater than oneself, regardless of the size of the role, equals patriotism.

I can't believe what I am hearing, they are doing a free show, a show that usually generates millions in revenue from ticket sales and ppv sales. And a show that looks like its gonna be better then the generic fight night. That in itself is a donation worth alot more money than anyone here donates I'm sure. And having a 3 hour show on national television will generate people to donate. Without this show people will donate here and there, this will get people who watch the UFC to call in and donate, which equals more money. Its the same thing as putting on a fundraiser, and I am sure that UFC will also donate money to start things out.

I'm literally 10 minutes away from the venue but I doubt I'll be able to go because it's most likely closed to the general public. It would have been nice.
