The decision to release Aurelio came shortly after his unanimous-decision loss to Hermes Franca at UFC 90 last month. Aurelio signed with the UFC in 2007 and compiled a 2-3 record in the Octagon with wins over Luke Caudillo and Ryan Roberts.

I don't see this as a hurt to the UFC. Just one of those releases that we were all probably expecting to see happen.

Im sure we will see him back in the UFC sooner or later after he gets a few more wins from the underground promotions.

Well, that does make sense. I'm sure Dana doesn't see a point in it.



What I don't get is that Houston Alexander just got finished in the first round 3 times in a row.... the guy is 2-3... and yet, there he is.

Aurelio loses to Guida, Griffin, and Franca... guys who are good fighters, and he gets the boot.


I am not saying Aurelio going 2-3 is good by any means, but that can't be the sole reason for the release.
