I agree with that but what I am saying is do you think striking is becoming the preferred way to win a MMA match over submission. I travel a lot and get to visit a variety of different tournaments. In my opinion I don't think that a lot of the new fans to MMA would like to see a Sambo match or ADCC. I love submissions but I train in Kenpo and Muay Thai.

Your right, I would say Humans in general love to see KOs but I've never saw anybody who didn't respect a good rear naked choke. The only thing new MMA fans don't get, is all the ground work to get the sub. Unfortunatly unlike Japan, this is a boxing country and MMA has to grow on them and they have to start understanding the intricacies of sub fighting.

spinning backfists work because they have the surprise element, and much more power in momentum. regular backfists wont even daze someone who has a better chin then an infant.
and theres no point in a neck strike, because nobody gets KOd by a neck strike. you can't cut off the carotid artery to black them out unless you can cut through a cinder block, and if you could hit that hard, you might as well hit them in the jaw.

and i'm sure Bas would much rather have used a fist to the liver if he could have, but Pancrase rules changed that.
I disagree with you, first open strikes are as powerful or more powerfull than a fist, they offer less risk of self injury than a fist. your palm and your hands heel cover more surface area and are much more blunt than your 2 knuckles. And neck strikes can be far better at knocking someone out with far less power then the shot on the jaw. it is one part technique, one part blood flow interupt and one part nerve strike.most mma guys really on boxing and kickboxing because thats what the other guy is using.

any good strike gets its power from your hips, that has much more importance in the end then closing your fist or leaving your hand open.

gloves offer more protection then swinging with an open palm. you cant bend your wrist when its taped up with athletic tape and gauze, then placed inside a 4. oz NHB glove. and a straight shot to the chin will KTFO people, and a shot to the neck so hard that it cuts off blood to the brain is a ridiculously hard to do
plus, who the fuck stands up straight with his neck out? they duck their head and cover their faces with their hands, you'll never land that. hitting the face is actually easier because its more exposed, even though its covered by the hands.

i have a black belt in kung fu. i've heard all the reasoning by traditional martial artists that MMA is just not efficent and its lucky strikes, just throw and hope to connect.
but theres a reason that Muay Thai, Boxing, and kickboxing are the primary tools of an MMA fighter. because its simple, and its proven. no MMA fighter should waste their time learning TMA's fundamentals and forms.
