| Anderson Silva not so interested in fighting at UFC 95 Quote:
Remember Anderson Silva, the UFC middleweight champ, the guy who got so pissed at the reaction to his fight with Patrick Cote that he wanted to be put on another UFC card as fast as possible just so he could punch a hole in someone’s face and shut everybody up?
Well he’s calmed down now. Despite Dana White’s indications that Silva would headline UFC 95 in February, possibly against Thales Leites, Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, says they’re thinking they’d rather wait until April to fight again.
"With our timing and our scheduling, it just makes more sense to come back [in April]," Soares said.
"As of right now, nothing has been 100 percent decided yet," Soares said. "It looks like we're looking to fight in April. We don't know what can happen, but as of right now, I think we're going to be fighting in April."
Okay, so that’s not a firm declaration that Silva absolutely will not fight in February. He seems like a guy who can be convinced to strap on the gloves and hurt somebody if Dana White sweetens the deal and gives a speech that includes the phrase “it’s the boss’s car,” but it still sounds like bad news for the UFC 95 card.
Soares also said they’d be interested in doing a 205-pound fight, and insinuated that part of Silva’s desire to wait until April might have something to do with Paulo Filho, who might also come back around then, possibly for Bellator.
If that’s the case, I’m going to be very disappointed. As disappointed as Silva is going to be when Filho freaks out and goes on a pizza and Doritos binge six days before his fight and ruins the whole dual comeback story.
Then again, this could be all a ploy to get the UFC to offer him a bigger fight. First the rumor was Chuck Liddell would be his opponent, so after that Leites doesn’t sound so great. Soares did his best to stress how uncommitted they were to any course of action, so maybe the message to the UFC there is: make us a better offer.

Okay is it me or does Anderson seem like he's developing a huge ego?

Anderson is one of the best fighters the sport has ever seen. He's always humble and respectful before and after his fights. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just you man.

I'm not saying the dude isn't the cats tits but Anderson doesn't seem like a "company" guy anymore. He wants to box, keeps talking about boxing Roy Jones Jr. Gave a horrible performance in a card he main evented and now doesn't want to fight unless it's when he wants to.

Kinda weird since hes quoted on saying he'd like to fight every 2 months. And I highly doubt that Chuck will wanna fight Anderson when he's coming back from a brutal ko. What a guy to fight after that huh?
So it sounds like his next fight will most likely be at 205, I read possibly Luis Cane? Which wouldnt be so bad, knowing that most the top 205ers already have fights booked.
And if it was at 185 the only person I could see him fighting would be Leites, which IMO would put up a better fight then anyone he will face down the road at 185. But you never know...Maia or Henderson 2 could be quite a test for him.. I have a weird feeling they're gonna give him bisping if he wins another fight...

If I were really retiring in the next year, I would want to make sure my last fights had huge potential to be massive, memorable, and high profile. I agree with picking battles. It's not like some guys who only fight once a year.

Sounds like they have some fighters in mind who wouldn't be able to fight as early as Feb. Wait for the better opponents and make the best match happen. Sounds like a good plan to me.
I really want to see him fight Rampage (even though I expect Quinton to lose to Wand again).

ya know, i usually say "well that's your opinion" or "to each his own" or something, but i'm going to go out and say that you are just flat out wrong here. bottom line.

He's not making nearly as much money as fighters he has 100x more skills than, he's touted with every breath as the #1 p4p fighter in the world, and yet the UFC offers him an unranked opponent in Cote and another one in Leites.
I would imagine being at that level and not making ridiculous money, the only thing to get me focused would be the level of my opponent. This could be the UFC's way of messing with him because he's declared he's going to finish his contract and bail--they've certainly done that before--and if he's getting even a taste of PPV percentage $$, it would be even worse, as they're linking him with fights that are pretty much guaranteed to be pedestrian.
I do think he still wants to box RJJ--Freddie Roach brought it up the other day--and I think he's probably feeling constricted by the UFC's conctract. I'm not sure of any of those things, obviously, but it's how I'd feel given the same circumstances.
