| IFL actually going international?
Rumour has it that the IFL are creating a British team with Ian 'the Machine' Freeman as captain.
This would be a great move for mma in the UK and should lead to better media coverage etc. Remember, it's only a 'rumour' though...
git.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did have a UK based team. As someone already mentioned they have a Japanese based team, the Tokyo Sabres, but most of the fighters on the team aren't Japanese. So hopefully they put a bunch of Brits on the UK based team so it's true UK team not just in name, like the Japanese team.

MMA goes all the way back to ancient Greek times when it was known as Pancration, a sport practiced in the olympics that involved striking and grappling. It's evolved over the years but it really began during those ancient Greek times. Another thing about it is that, while it seemed to have disappeared for a good long while, the sport became popular again in Brazil during the 1920's as Vale Tudo, "anything goes" fights. To this day, the sport is still popular in Brazil having an 80 or so year history as opposed to here in the U.S. where it debuted in 1993.

Inoki is only involved with IFL in name, Ken Yasuda is the actual coach of the Sabres. Inoki is just the "ambassador" for the team, I don't think he has anything to do with the actual running of the team.
But they need to get a team from Brazil, someone from BTT or something like that.

I like your idea of a Brazilian team, that would be great. Also, maybe a Russian based team and have one of the Red Devil guys as a coach. That would be much better than that Bodog shit they are doing.

The Bodog fight organization is by far the weakest and least likely to succeed of all the recent companies to spring out of nowhere. I guess it is okay since it is giving guys more chances to fight and get exposure, but they are by no means a threat to UFC not even to WEC sized events.
