Fo rthe record, she hates Tito and loves Chuck. She is perfect for this board. LOL | That's pretty much an "Automatic Marriage Proposal" moment. You sandbaggin son of a bitch, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad envious.

Definitely man. I have a bunch of other friends that watch MMA too, but they are mostly UFC only fans, which there is nothing wrong with. But when I talk about Pride to them, they look at me like I'm an alien or something, or just nod their head like they know what I'm talking about. I have a couple of buddies come over for the Pride PPVs, but not nearly as many that come over when I order UFC events. So it's nice to come here and other forums to talk about Pride with people that follow it a little closer than my friends.

I have always enjoyed MMA, however became addicted in the last two years. I have a core group of friends that faithfully follow MMA and take in local events here in Ohio (Ohio is one of the few states embracing amatuer and some pro venues). It is fun watching the PPV on TV but it is even more enjoyable watching these young local fighters trying to make a name for themselves. (FYI: watch out for a guy from Shelby, OH; Smokin Joe Heiland)
You know you are a MMA when you can truly see an arm bar/kimura/etc forming and then appreciate it when it is executed to submission. However nothing really beats a clean hard shot to the chin followed by some hammer blows.
This sport is taking off and growing exponentially. It won't be long before it has surpassed the popularity of the crap they call Pro Wrestling and Boxing.

I like the board, many thanks to Afro Samurai for directing me to it. I have two good friends here with me that enjoy the MMA. But this is a great place to hang out, check results, and get all kinds of varying opinions.
Later.

I've managed to rope my Dad into mma & a couple of my friends are watching more K1 & UFC as well, but they are usually only interested when there's a standing fight. But then it's because they've come from watching boxing most of the time.
My brother is one of those who gets pissy if the fight goes to the ground & can't understand it when I get excited seeing someone work an arm bar or triagle choke (unless the guy is choked unconscious!).
So it's good to chat about this stuff with people on this forum.

Luckily for me I have a few people around me who are into MMA.
One of my coworkers started getting into UFC about a year or so ago. We went to UFC54 (I think ... either way it was AA vs. Buentello) at Mohegan Sun. I've recently gotten him into watching Pride and IFL.
I also DJ at a club where one of the barbacks fights for WFL. The kid is only 18, is 2 and 1 and has his fourth fight in a few weeks. Him and I talk endlessly about MMA whenever around each other.
My girlfriend has gotten into it quite a bit too. She's a big UFC fan, and kinda likes a few of the Pride shows she's seen on FSN.
Though around the Boston area, there are quite a few fans. Whenever I wear my UFC or my TUF shirt (working for the cable company is cool cause you get free swag), I usually have someone wanting to talk about it out in public.
