| What I love about this board.
I have been watching MMA since UFC 1. I have a pretty large tape and DVD collection which includes some of the early stuff from Extreme fighting and so forth.
My problem is none of my friends enjoy the sport with the same passion I do. Sometimes I invite them over to watch the PPV's with me and they become easily distracted, and you hear comments like, "Why doesn't he hust punch him" argh.
Here I have a place to read other people thoughts on the sport, debate on upcoming fights and talk about fights we would like to see in the future. As much as it seems like we all hate each other at times, I love talking to the people on this board and the ones that contribute all the time, like Afro, Matt, Luis, Kimuras, Killer and the rest. So Thank You to All.
I would also like to here if any of you share a simliar experience.

We all do bro. That's why places like this exist. It's almost impossible to invite your friends over to watch MMA and expect them to understand it and appreciate it like we do. I'm sure we've all heard when girls are around during an MMA fight where someone is someone else's guard the infamous "haha it looks like he's hugging him" line and other stupid shit like you said with the "well if it was me in there I'd just do this and this."
One day everyone will be smartened up to MMA. Probably not in our lifetimes though lol.

Ya it's nice to be able to talk to people about MMA that actually know MMA...some of my friends act like they know about MMA and say stuff...then you sit there, knowing it is wrong but you agree and feel like an idiot...but I do like talking to you guys here it's nice...if only we all could watch a PPV together

Yeah, I'll try and explain things too during shows and get the same thing. People will then try and act like they too know what's going on, and talk in a way that they've "figured it all out" and you can't correct them because it's too complex and you're trying to enjoy the fight, so you just kind of say "yep" and let them think they're right lol.

PUNCH HIM! WHY DOESN'T HE JUST PUNCH HIM!" as if A) they knew more than the trained killing machine they were watching and B) the fighter could hear them through the TV, I'd be rich as hell. It is great to hear different points of view, I enjoy the disagreements more than anything. Well, all arguments except for those by GracieAlum, which make me feel like I'm at a Nazi death camp.

I have my buddy Dave but before that there was no one, plus my girlfriend isn't one of those lost annoying women who yelled out dumb and pointless shit, so i'm good here. But it would be better to have a few more. In the beginning though, this is all i had to chat with people who knew what i was talking about for the mot part.

I dont live by anyone that watches MMA anymore, and it wasnt until I moved that I found out just about all my friends watch it (the bastards)
only my older brother watches it in my family, my dad has yet to convert from boxing
overall, I love this forum.. ive been to two other forums and this is my favorite one. Not many here feel that they are the superior knowledge of MMA and they refuse to share that knowledge with anyone else, overall people are easy to talk to here and they know there stuff. You gotta look at these forums as a learning experience, not a place to bitch and argue with everyone in site.. you can learn a lot from everyone on this forum. I feel this place is gonna be huge soon.

Funny, my girlfriend has been watching for about 6 months now with me, the other day she floored me, we where watching a movie and she said, "That guy looks like the snowman". The guy was built like monson, so I said "Are you talking about the fighter" she said "Yes" calmly. I was totally floored.
Fo rthe record, she hates Tito and loves Chuck. She is perfect for this board. LOL

I actually got into MMA because of my grandpa of all people. He had the UFC 1 tape back in early 94 I believe it was. Since then we ordered alot of the UFC PPVs together and still to this day occassionally watch the events together. I got him into Pride FC about 3 years ago or so, to return the favor. Now he is a Pride and Bushido fanatic to go along with the UFC. As he is older now he forgets alot of the fighters names and stuff, but still enjoys the fights and is always asking me when the next events will be. I think it's pretty cool that my gramps is a fight fan.
