Couture and Silva???

Someone at work told me today that he heard Couture and Silva are negotiating a fight??? Anyone else hear this, or was he just blowing smoke out of his ass?????

It's definatley the first I've heard of it.....

Couture is retired so???

kickass32 06-12-2006 01:31 PM

See, now that's what I thought.....but how many "retirements" have we seen that aren't actually retirements??

Afro 06-12-2006 01:33 PM

I dunno but Couture sounded pretty convincing with his

Yeah I gotta think Couture's staying out of front line action.

But then I thought that after hearing of Ian Freemans retirement after his accident & now he's fighting Melvin Manhoaf on 1st July.

Actually that would be probably have been the lamest reason an MMA fighter retired. Fell of a horse whilst doing equestrian!

Well, Couture did say it was the last time you were "going to see these gloves and shorts in this octagon". I took that to mean he'd fight against certain people, like Silva, in another organization if he got the opportunity. Though I've never heard of anything between them being negotiated.

I just don't see Randy coming back. Randy would take Silva.

Didn't Randy wrote a 3 fight contract with UFC (or Dana?) before his last fight with Iceman? So his next 2 fights would have to have their blessing if he's to fight outside the octagone?

You sir are correct. Randy signed a 3 fight contract with the UFC before that fight. SO if he returns it will have to be to the UFC or with their permission.

While I have to believe that Randy has a chance at beating anyone in his division in the UFC, I Dont believe he would beat Silva.
