| Who is the most influential character in the devolopment of Modern MMA?
Me and a couple of my friends had a disagreement over the most influential person for MMA. I had to say Mitsuyo Maeda, a.k.a. Count Koma(taught the first Gracie Judo/JJ, and taught the Russian who was supposed to have devoloped Sambo Judo). One of my friends said Bruce Lee w. the theory of JKD. And of course a couple others said Royce simply because he was the first they had seen. What do you guys think?

Frank Shamrock. He was the first guy to show how important cardio is and was one of the pioneers of being well-rounded.
Bruce Lee had the idea of being well-rounded, but I honestly don't see him as having influenced much in MMA. Because until MMA came along and evolved, people were still arguing about which single style was better.
The Gracie's only introduced BJJ, which is an important part to MMA but is only a small part of modern MMA.

Bruce talked about the idea first, but didnt show anything, not even in his movies. the Gracies showed everyone why you must cross train when Royce was tapping all these big tough motherfuckers in the first couple UFCs
in terms of philosophy, Bruce Lee was the first MMA fighter, with the ideas of mixing styles, and studying everything. JKD was just his title for his own expression of his martial arts training, MMA with a name.

Most important person in MMA history has to be someone who not only revolutionized the sport, but the business as well. That person, IMHO, WITHOUT QUESTION, DARE I SAY THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE HISTORY OF MARTIAL ARTS is...............Joe Son...............

That's BS because after Bruce was tapped out, he made THE GAME OF DEATH and if you remember he tapped out Kareem Abdul Jabar. That was done specifically to show how to win fights in every different situation.
