| What is the UFC doing with Mike Swick?
He goes from fighting the top contenders @185 to fighting mid range and newb fighters at 170 and it seems his competition is getting progressively worse?
Here is the order he has fought:
Yushin Okami - A top contender at 185 (loss by decision drops to 170)
Josh Burkman - A good B- fighter (good intro fight to 170 tough guy) Swick should go up in competition right?
Marcus Davis - A up and coming C fighter (Why?)
Jonathan Goulet - C- D+ level fighter...(Huh?)
...
and Now Ben Saunders? A relative newbie who hasn't fought anyone? (WTF?)
Either somebody really likes Mick Swick and wants to see him win bigger and bigger...
or
somebody hates him and wants him to never get a title shot...
You can't get a title shot by going easier in competition.

I'm a Swick fan, and I actually think Saunder's size poses a relative problem for Mike. I think this is a lose-lose match for him. If he beats Saunders, he beats a basic nobody, but if he loses, he loses to a basic nobody.
I don't understand what's going on here. I'd figure someone hates him, but then again, he was the first guy to roll over and beg when Dana fucked up on the video game contracts, so you've got to figure he's in good graces.
I'm not sure if he knows he can't beat GSP and is just looking to make a little bank on each fight or what. I had very high hopes for him at one point...but they're evaporating.

Evaporating is right, and if he loses to Saunders he will disappear...
I just don't get it, usually guys who drop weight classes and win, are fighting A level fighters in 2-3 fights. He is going backwards.
Such a shame too because he had a following and he has speed, skills, size to handle the top guys at 170.
IMO he should be fighting Fitch by now, this fight with Ben will do him no good at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a title shot after Alves.

Kind of like Kongo, the last few Kongo opponents have left me scratching my head. |

Davis is a better fighter then Burkman. Imo burkman is a low level fighter. Also Saunders is a good fighter, just because not many have heard of him or he hasn't got the UFC time needed doesn't take away from that.
Alves vs Swick was rumored then Swick said he couldnt fight because his foot or something.
Who is Swick going to fight, AJ, Kos, Fitch, well they all fight in the same camp so really who.

UFC is building Swink properly, something very few fighters get.
Dana loves Swick because not only was he one of the the original TUFers, but he is loyal to the company. Dana will keep him with the organization forever and they are building him properly to get a title shot which is why Swick is fighting Saunders instead of Alves (like he was supposed to instead of Kos) and Anthony Johnson (another guy they are building up).
they are gonna build Swick up for a title shot but he is not ready yet, GSP would kill him now, as would Alves and Johnson is too risky for him to fight right now. so let Alves and GSP fight, then GSP will fight someone else and by then it will be 2010 and maybe Swick will be ready then

Burkman had wins over Neer and Ficket...who did Davis beat of that caliber?
If Swick won't fight the guys in his camp, that makes sense, but it sucks because Fitch or Kos are what he should be fighting right now. I don't see how he can go from Ben to title shot...

Properly? The guy once fought the #2 contender at 185...now he is building at 170? Quote:

You think Diego Sanchez should just get a title shot @ LW? Don't you think he should have to earn his way in his new division just like anyone else who enters a new weight class?
