Sherk couldn't even finish Florian. His only chance of beating Gomi would be to lay and pray. Gomi would demolish him with his stand up. As far as Gomi defending Sherk's takedowns, I'm sure Sherk would get a few takedowns on Gomi. No denying Sherk's wrestling skills, but what's he gonna do once he gets him to the ground? You think he has the BJJ skills to submit Gomi? Like I said lay and pray is Sherk's only chance.

one their was a lot of blood in the fight and getting into sherk's eyes.and plus like you said hughes took down penn aint that strong.penn took down gomi with ease!sherk and size wont matter for example the sherk vs. diaz fight.

Hughes never took down Penn.. Hughes strength didnt help him in that aspect, takedowns are about WRESTLING.. Penn isnt a wrestler yet he was able to stuff Hughes takedowns... GOMI IS A WRESTLER so he would have a better chance.. ya Penn took Gomi down with ease.. Penn also happens to be a freak of nature that can leap tall buildings in a single bound not really a good fighter to use as an example cuz PENN CAN DO IT ALL and thats not homerism its just a FACT. Nick Diaz has crappy wrestling, thats why he lost to 3 wrestlers in a ROW. Like I said, Gomi doesnt have crappy wrestling.. he is a wrestler so it wouldnt be that easy to take him down.. Sherk can take him down often but can he finish him? doubt it and when you cant finish a fighter you give them more opportunities to finish you, Gomi CAN finish Sherk and most likely would if they fought GSP-style or by submission.

I think after his loss against Aurelio a lot of people recognized that Gomi has some major flaws in his game, which is why people call him overrated. He has a lot of trouble against someone who can put him on his back. But with his chin and boxing skills are unparalleled in the LW division.

But also, each of those fights Gomi could easily win as well.

Sherk... could possibly win a boring decision against Gomi, but he relies too much on his ability to outmuscle and use his size to his advantage, like against Florian. But a lot of the top LWs in the world are just as big, if not bigger, than Sherk. Gomi, Kawajiri, Shaolin and Aurelio are all huge LWs walking around at 180-185, Aoki is the Shooto MW champion, and Sakurai is about the same size as Sherk, about 170-175 or so. Sherk's GnP is basically irrelevant, his hands are too small to effectively to damage. His offense is basically some ...okay... boxing skills, some cool slams, and very good ground control.

Saying Fisher and Guillard would beat him when the best LW win between the two of them is Gabe Ruediger is ridiculous.

I think Gomi is perfectly rated.

He is an awesome all-around fighter, but he does not have the best technique.

You cannot compare many folks with BJ. The best LW in the world is BJ Penn.
