Who is the best do it all fighter of all time? Which means he can do standup,GnP, Submissions, takedown defense, good chin, kicks, cardio, athletic, good game plan, etc. This fighter can beat you many ways.

With that said I can think of one name: Frank Shamrock!

Any thoughts?

Bas Rutten comes immedietly to mind. He started as a pure Kickboxer and lost his firt two or three MMA fights, and has been unbeaten since. He was a Thai Kickboxing Champion, King of Pancraze, and UFC HW Champion. I remember seeing him give people his arm to escape from a mount. He was just ridiculous. I have seen some posts where people say Bas was over rated, but I think they just heard him as an announcer and never saw him compete. And you should see him and Frank go at it. It was awesome(the funniest backhand you will ever see). And Frank does not win this, Bas submits him if I'm not mistaken

I really like Bas alot, and even though he's one of my all time favorites I have to say Fedor. There just doesn't seem to be a hole in his game at all. And with him being a heavyweight I am even more impressed. There are so many great fighters this thread could go on for days...

Bas did not submit Frank. He woon by decision i think. They fought 3 times in pancrease Bas won 2 but that was before Frank evolved into a monster. But yeah Bas's punching and kicking were awesome. He is one of the best all time. But Frank has better all round game. Look how quickly he beat Kevin Jackson who at the time was much hailed until Frank armbarred him upside down in 25 secs. And how about how frank slammed Igor Ziniovich in 20 secs. And on and on. He made everyone he fought look really bad. No one went to distance with Frank. Either by KO or submissions.

Definately Fedor.....He's undefeated, and has proven he's well rounded.

technically he's not undefeated, lost to a japanese guy after getting cut by an errant punch turned elbow, but he later fought the guy and made his face into pancake with jello in it. but yeah fedor is awesome in all facets of mma. I'm most impressed by his armbars from the bottom position

but in the coming years, don't count out Shogun Rua who has proven himself to be formidable on his feet or on the ground. Gnar gnar muay thai knees, vicious stomps, good sub skills, and even better sub defense.
