i made a post in the hughes retiring thread about this but instead of that one going off topic i decided to start a fresh thread.

Id like to see a tournament happen. spread over so many PPV's. i fuckin hate when they just give 2 guys a fight for the title. it would be much cool if there was like an 8 man tourney spread over 3 shows with the quarters, semi's and finals spread over 3 months maybe 4

i wouldnt mind a tournament as i feel there are so many great possible fights when you put 4-8 guys in it. but knowing Dana he will have something like this for the title:

GSP vs. Penn II
GSP vs. Sanchez
Penn vs. Sanchez

I really see no other alternative other then a tournament.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 4 man tournament with Karo,Diego,GSP,and Penn ,but it would never happen.

Yea as I said in the other topic, I believe Karo/ Diego for the title would be phenomenal considering how good their fight was when it was "just because"

Matt Hughes is a fighter. He might retire for a year and then figure out there's nothing in life that's more fun than MMA. Plus he's too young to retire.

Agreed even with Hughes gone it will be Penn and GSP being the Oak and the rest of the WW's squirelling to get a nut. IMO

I said this in the other one, but a four man tourny would make sense. Karo vs. Penn and GSP vs. Sanchez. Then the winners fight. I doubt that will happen though and it will probably end up being GSP vs. Sanchez, or Penn vs. Sanchez. Both of which would be very good fights. But I think by the end of 2007, Penn will be wearing the WW title around his waist.
