in a ground fight there not too far apart, Serra is very crafty on the ground and proved it today, his Jui-Jitsu is excellent, and his wrestling isnt bad either.. hes a technician on the ground, and his guard isnt easy to pass.. I think Hughes would ground out a win but it wouldnt be easy at all, hell i'd give Serra the edge standing.

I think your judging Serra offa one fight which is wrong, what he did to win vs Lytle is what he had to do, he had to control the fight and beat Lytle from a techincal standpoint and he did these things.

I thought Royce Gracie was beating Hughes in the stand up.Hughes wants to talk about his stand up has improved ,but it's still unimpressive to me.I'd certainly give the edge in stand up to Serra.Serra stood 3 rounds with BJ Penn in a very close fight.Serra has some good strikes.

I agree, Hughes has the edge standing. But Afro is right, Octagon control is a big factor in UFC scoring, so I can see it going to Serra. Althought I thought he lost the fight, I can see it being scored in his favor.

Back up your statement with facts. Serra has a chance against Hughes but none against GSP since GSP will nullify his takedowns and not allow him to clinch into the fence like he was doing against Lytle because of his strength.

I was glad Serra won, because if he does end up fighting Hughes and not GSP, there is an extra dynamic there because of the TUF show drama. But I see Hughes winning a good fight.
Nothing in Serra's game tells me he can take Hughes down or avoid the Hughes takedown. Hughes is too big and strong for Serra. And Serra has never been underneath a GnP'er like Hughes. Just my opinion, and I would love to see that fight. Hughes TKO rd. 3 or 4.
