I recently read about four schools in Northern California that have high school MMA teams. They compete against each other in one five minute round. The rules are much like the UFC, and they weight divisions are similar to high school wrestling, minus a couple of divisions. They let kids that age box and wrestle both of which are high contact sports, so I see nothign wrong with this. Do you all think this could become more mainstream or are there just not enough qualified guys to coach that sport. i had a wrestling coach in high school who never wrestled himself. We knew more about what was going on then he did. In another thread I said this and someone said that wouldn't it be great to be the guy walking aorund with that on your letter jacket. I couldn't agree more

Good stuff, I'd be all for it. We did wrestling in highschool on gym mats. It was alot of fun. It's not fun though when 4 guys team up to take your ass out in a Battle Royal format. LOL

I know a kid who is 18, still in HS and fights MMA.
Don't agree with it, but at that age everyone think they are invincible.

True, my brother was like that too. He thought he was the baddest motherf*cker in the world who could beat anybody just cause he went to black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Really he was nothing but a little fag with a big mouth whom I exposed with some devastating Fedor ground and pound. Same with some little sh*thead in my family. He's 3 years old and goes around hitting everybody, even hitting other kids cause he thinks he's a badass because of what he sees on Ninja Turtles. So when he ran up and hit me and tried to run away, I grabbed him and put him in a reverse choke until he went blue in the face. Little sh*t never f*cked with me again.

California is so hot for MMA now, I swear you are going to see Moms and Dads taking their kids for Family MMA Day at the beach...LOL.

There are so many facilities for MMA out here, if I were young again I would take MT, Sambo or BJJ and Wrestle in High school.

On a side thought, I wonder how school yeard fights are going these days?

I think it would be funny to see someone throw out an armbar on the baseball field lol.

Nah, school yard fights don't happen under MMA rules so you can expect kids to still employ the usual eye gouge, biting, scratching, hair pulling and dick kicking.

Maybe, but there were many times I had to fight in school yard where I relied on Wrestling. When they go to swing at me, 2 legged takedown, take their back and punches to the side of head (ears) work nicely . But I would have loved to break their arms with a nice armbar.
