| Lyoto: “I will talk about the era, after holding the belt for a long time” Quote:
The “Machida Era” has been talked about ever since Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida took out former light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans in a calm yet aggressive manner. His style is different to any seen in the Octagon before or since, but he says it’s too early to be talking about any kind of era dedicated to him.
Speaking to Terra.com.br, Machida speaks about his place in the big world of the UFC’s legends.
“It’s too early to talk this. Getting the belt is hard but keeping it is even harder. The division is full of great fighters. I will talk about the era only after holding the belt for a long time.”
“That was like a dream and I just realized I was the champion when I saw him getting up after some time. I didn’t understand right at the knockout time though.”
Lyoto Machida has been described as the most talented and most dangerous light-heavyweight, if not the most dangerous MMA fighter full stop. Although the man himself claims it’s too early, we could very well be seeing the birth of the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

Dude, Lyoto is the man, he has always come across as humble and self confident. Seems to me that he is not allowing his win and subsequent champion status increase the size of his head. Perhaps we will see an undefeated Machida for a long time and I for one would be more than happy to see that esp if he keeps this attitude up.

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

Class, respect and intelligence. He is always evolving in a fight. He almost has started to mimic styles of other fighters he faces and mixes in his own version. It starts to confuse you and you later find your Gameplan is really his. He has finally received some warranted respect from the MMA community as a whole. Its great to see.

Lyoto might very well become the greatest mixed martial arts fighter one day. Out of all the fighters I have seen with undefeated records I knew that he was gonna keep his record spotless the longest. Now that he is champion, I can't wait to see him defend and keep the title. I highly doubt he is gonna lose the belt in one defense like Forrest or Rashad. No disrespect to any of them, but Lyoto has a better style and the best chance at keeping the title for awhile. Also a big fight I wanna see is Lyoto vs Rampage so that maybe people will shut up about who is better.

That's the best possible attitude he could have at this time in his career. With people all around him ready to anoint him the greatest ever he is keeping a level head about himself and his career. That's a major reason why what is being said about him already could actually come to fruition in time.
